Robert Warren of Baldwin County is Jesse's father. William Warren is Robert's brother and Jesse's uncle. Who is James Warren who married Lucy Stembridge? Who is Delilah Warren and how does she fit in? And while I am at it, I have some confusion about the children of Nathan Breedlove, son of Benjamin and Mary, and Nathan's son Nathan. Do you have a list of the children of either of these? I am interested because Adeline F. Breedlove is buried in Prairie View Cemetery, Brenham, Washington County, Texas next to my father. I do not know if Adeline is the daughter of Nathan or Nathan, Jr. Do you? I have puzzled about Nathan G. One thought that is always in the back of my mind is that an obituary of John H. Breedlove by his son Benjamin F. Breedlove said that his father had four sisters and FOUR brothers. Benjamin could have meant that there were four girls and four boys in the family, but FOUR brothers is the way it was written. If there were four brothers, I do not have one brother accounted for. Marriage and Death Notices from the "Southern Christian Advocate", 1837-1860 (Sutro F 208 H6 v.1): p. 262 Issue of April 2, 1852: "Died, in Tallapoosa co., Ala., Mrs. Lucy R. Breedlove, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Stembridge, formerly of Hancock, Ga., wife of Rev. Wm. Breedlove, in the 57th year of her age ... left husband and several children. . . Wm. B. Neal." p. 264 Issue of April 23, 1852: "Died, in Tallapoosa Co., Ala., 17th of Feb., Mrs Lucy R. Breedlove, consort of the Rev. W. W. Breedlove, in the 57th of her age. . . ." It would be interesting to find a copy of the "Southern Christian Advocate" and read the entire obituaries. You can see that the notice was posted twice. I believe I have read that this paper is predominantly a Methodist newspaper. I would like to know the names of the children of William Stembridge and Kindness Breedlove. William Stembridge left a will, but by then Kindness was dead and he was remarried. We could possibly discover the names of some of the offspring to see how Thomas tied in to this couple. Martha

Tom, I will post the obituary of Lucy S. W. Breedlove tomorrow. I believe I only have an abstract and would love to have the whole thing, but I'm not sure where to get it. I am sure she is related to William Stembridge and Kindness Breedlove Stembridge, but not sure how Thomas and William are related, brothers or son and father? I guess by now you know that a lot of us have ancestors who lived in Hancock County, GA and are descended from William Watkins Breedlove and Sarah H. Foster Breedlove. I am interested to know if you know more about Lucy R. Stembridge. Where was she born? I got the names of her parents from an obituary, Thomas and Sarah Stembridge. I was interested in knowing who Thomas' parents were. I would guess these Stembridges are descended from William Stembridge and Kindness Breedlove who were some of the earliest Breedlove kin to go to Hancock County. Ok, my gr-gr-granmother Lucy R. married first James Warren and second William Watkins Breedlove. Also Jesse Mason Warren married first Ann L. Harton in 1834 then Mary W. Breedlove in 1836. Dear Carole Colqueh, Thank you for the Allaman/Parr information, posted at the Breedlove web page. I have some additional data on Thomas Allaman, and one question. How do you know that the father of Thomas Allaman [father of Judith Allaman Parr Edmunson] was named Thomas? I would appreciate your source for this. The parents of Judith Allaman, were Thomas Allaman & Contiten [surname unknown.] Middlesex Co., VA Deed Book 3, pp. 138-139. 3 August 1696: Thomas Alliman of Kingston Parish Goucester Co., for love & natural affection I bear to my beloved daughter, Judith, ye wife of Phillip Parr of the County of Middlesex, have granted unto said daughter during her natural life a tract of land in Middlesex, purchased of William Dudley [acreage not given, but the original Grantor Deed, Dudley to Allaman, shows it was 300 acres], and after her decease to Judith, ye daughter of said Philip Parr and Judith his wife, but in case of her decease without heirs the remainder to be to Mary the daughter of said Phlip Parr & Judith his wife. . . Signed Thomas [mark] Alliman & Contiten X Alleman There are other Middlesex deeds which involve Thomas Allaman, including: Middlesex D.B. 3, p. 253, 5 november 1697: Thomas Allaman & SARAH his wife sold 50 acres to William Churchill. So Thomas Allaman's wife is now named, Sarah. But that's not ALL: From Essex Co., VA Court Order Book , 11 December 1700, "We present Mary Alloman for haveing a Bastard she previusly being a Servant of Mr. Corbin Griffin, now wife of Thomas Allomin. February 3, 1700." So Thomas Allaman's wife is now named Mary, but the confusion continues, for when Thomas died, his wife was again named, Sarah: From Records of Colonial Gloucester Co., VA, Overseers Contract, 1707 between Charles Degge & Sarah Allaman, widow. [Sarah & Charles agree to the conditions & obligations of both parties for Charles to act as Sarah's overseer.] I think that Thomas Allaman may have married only twice, and that his second wife was named, Sarah [perhaps Sarah Mary, or the recording of her name as Mary, may be in error in the records]. In 1741, eveidently Judith Allaman Parr Edumundson brought suit, claiming a share in her father's estate: From Baradall's Reports [Virginia Colonial Decisions]: "Thomas Allaman seized in Fee of 700 acres of Land died intestate leaving issue by his first wife, Judith a Daughter; and by his second Wife three sons, John, Thomas & William. John died an Infant without Issue; Thomas died also in his infancy without Issue. William lived to be of age, entered & was seized & being also possessed of some slaves & personal Estate died intestate in 1732, leaving a wife, a son Thomas & a daughter Sara. Thomas died soon after his father, an infant of tender years. Sara died lately being abt. 12 years old. The mother is now living. There are no relations of Sara on the part of the Father but the Aunt Judith, who is but of the half blood. . ." The upshot of this suit was that the land escheated to the mother, along with the slaves, but that Judith was entitled to 1/2 of the personal property that came to her niece, Sarah. Evidently William Allaman's widow was also named, Sarah, and she did not live long after the suit was settled. From Gloucester Co. VA Deed Book 24, p. 248, July, 1746: Escheat land. Lately owned by Sarah Allaman deceased. Adjoining Mr. Burgess to Baylor's line. Incidentally, Judith Allaman Parr Edmundson left a will, [Essex Co. Will Book #9, pp. 236-237], written 6 March 1753; proved 19 June 1753, in which she mentions [among other items[ "my right that I have to my Brother William Allaman's negros". Marilyn Owen
