I got the will of Frances Formby Echols from TN. She listed three daughters and Frances (nicknamed Nancy) Breedlove was not one of them. This does not rule out the possibility that Frances is her daughter, but it makes it less likely. Also John and Frances Echols were not living in VA in 1812 when Frances says she was born in VA. I am still trying to find proof of Frances Echols Breedlove's parents.

Tom-thanks for the interest. I did phone the server-they said one was sent back because it didnt have the L, went to some other address. This is how I have it in my address book. Usually Breedlove goes through well, so does Bolles, have problems with Yates and Lowery. maybe it is something I do wrong-sometimes I get in a hurry- have no idea why. Breedlove is one of the best groups. I do appreciate it. Ellen Byrne
Tom-are you talking about the Simpson who lived around Greene Co Mo-possibly also AR and was in the Civil War? This is all from memory havent looked any of it up- but I thought his son John was the one who went to OK--probably goofy- will look into it. Ellen
Tom-I have the info re John Breedlove- who married Carrie Burton in the Starr's History of the Cherokees-havent looked at it for many years but there is a long article about them and I think a picture of Carrie. I think the woman who descends from the Silkwood was going to try to phone the Silkwood of Redding-hope he is still alive- and at the same address.I have found Lowery, Breedlove -all sorts of related names in Starr's book but never any real connection- at least not to mine-though most researchers think our Lowery's are part Indian. This came through on one of my other lists. While I am sure it is not as ironclad as they make it appear, it is probably a good general rule to which we should take notice. Linda << The following is from a Minnesota Genealogical Newsletter. "In the lower left corner of most old deeds you will find two to four witnesses. The first one is always from the husband's side, the next two from the wife's side. That is to protect her one-half dower rights under the law - Nothing you will ever use will give greater clues to maiden names." >>

The daughter-in-law "Timley" mentioned in Jesse Sr.'s will is probably the widow of Jesse, Jr., who had just died. 20. His name and relationship to Jesse, Jr. are given in will of Jeremiah Warren. 21. Jesse, Sr. left $1000 to "presently unnamed grandson," the only son of Jesse Warren, dec'd. If he was not yet named when his grandfather's will was made in January 1826, he must have been quite young. 22. Jeremiah was appointed administrator of his estate 4 Jan. 1821. 23. Jesse, Sr. left bequests of $400 to each of them; Jeremiah left a negro boy to each of them. Hancock Co. Wills & Estates, vol N, p. 405 lists Jeremiah's heirs, including Martha and William, orphans of James Warren. 24. See Putnam Co. GA census 1850, p. 304, #452. 25. Mary Warren's will dated 1834 includes bequests to children of brother James Warren (who we know had died) and to children of sister Elizabeth Smith (who, we can assume, must also have died by this time). Has anyone come across the surname SILKWOOD in their research? Looking for information on Breedloves from Muldrow OK. area around 1878-1898. I don't have much to go on, but I'm looking for information on a Mira or Miriah Breedlove who married a Thomas Silkwood. I have more information on the Silkwood line, but nothing on the Breedlove line. Debby Schmidt drs39@csufresno.edu

References 1. from Southern Recorder (Milledgeville, GA) dated 26 Feb. 1827: Jesse Warren, Sr. died in Hancock Co. Feb. 10, 182?, aged ?9 years. Resident of Dinwiddie Co., VA for 1*1* years before moving to GA. Nember Methodist Church for 20 yrs. Had wife and seven children. 2. Her name from Jesse Warren's will and from her own will. In his volume concerning Georgia residents in 1805, Maddox says her maiden may have been FUQUA, but offers no documentation for this assumption. 3. from Southern Christian Advocate dated 19 Oct. 1838: Mrs. Jesse Warren, age 87, widow of the late Jesse Warren of Hancock Co., died July 2, 1838 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Johnson, in Putnam Co. Born in Dinwiddie Co., VA, she joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1774. 4. from Hancock Co. census records 5. from Hancock Co. wills and estates 6. with Robert in 1850 Hancock Co. census, p. 1, #6. 7. listed in will of Jeremiah Warren as Robert's child. 8. see Hancock Co. 1850 census, p. 2, #28. 9. Jesse Mason Warren was appointed guardian of Allen L. Warren's orphans in January, 1837(see Guardian's Annual Returns, vol D, p. 184) with Epps Warren as his security. If Allen was a grandson of Jesse (as he must have been), he had to be a son of Robert. Of the sons of Jesse Warren, Sr., James Warren had only one son: James; Jesse Warren had only one son: Jesse; William Warren and Jeremiah Warren had no children; therefore, the other Warren grandsons must belong to Robert. 10. see Hancock Co. Deeds, vol. 0, p. 511, dated 21 Nov. 1836: mentions Robert Warren and his son, Jesse M. Warren. 11. see Wilkinson Co., GA 1850 census, p. 298, #913. 12. the 1820 Baldwin Co., GA census, p. 22, lists for Robert Warren's children a male b. 1?91*-1801*, two males b. 1804-1810, a female b. 1810-1820, and five males b. 1810-1820. Thus at least three males are not accounted for. 13. see Hancock Co. Eliza M. is probably the daughter mentioned as b. 1804-1810 in the 1820 Hancock Co. census, p. 92. 17. the 1830 Hancock Co. census, p. 155, lists four males born between 1810 & 1825. 18. obituary in Georgia Journal (Milledgeville, GA) dated 21 Feb. 1826: Jesse Warren, Jr., age 36, died 6 Feb. 1826 in Morgan Co., leaving aged parents, brothers, and sisters. 19.
