    1. Re: [BRAY-L] Rockcastle/Pulaski
    2. Hi Jim, Welcome. I also keep an eye out for BRAYs in that area. Even though my grandfather James Edward, and his father, Bryant BRAY, were both born in Barbourville, Knox Co., KY, the family owned land in Pulaski and Rockcastle at various times. I do know this Bryant was b. c. 1853 and married Martha Jane HOWERTON April 7, 1876 in Barbourville. Information I got from another researcher shows Bryant's father to be another James, who married Mary "Winny" GOLDEN. The 1850 census for Knox Co. shows at # 490-500 BRAY, Martha ?? head of household 45 NC 100 acres Eliz 21 TN Nathan 19 TN Nancy 14 KY John 5 KY Mary A. 4/12 KY and Bryant 92 NC pauper at # 491-501 is listed James Bray 26 TN 125 acres Winny 24 KY William F.(Franklin) 1/12 KY By the 1860 census James and Winny are listed in the Pulaski Co. report as 34 and 32 William is said to be 11, and added to the family are Solmon`9, *Bryant* 7, Sarah 5, Mary 3, and John 2/12. I'm looking for Martha's missing spouse, not the older Bryant, first because of age, but also, in the 1840 census he is listed as head of a household along with a 60-70 year old wife and another woman 40-50 and a male 20-30, male 10-15 and females 10-15 and 5-10. These could fit maybe yet an older male? ,James, and Eliz(abeth?), Nathan, and Nancy. Is this your line??? Or does anybody recognize them? If it is I would be happy to swap note with you. If not, who are your's, and I will keep an ey out for them too. Happy Family Tree climbing, and Merry Christmas to all.
