I haven't brought this up in a while, so I will mention it. I am researching Ann E. BRAY, Mother of Columbus N. BRAY, of Sharp County, Arkansas, in the 1870 census. Sharp County was originally part of Lawrence County, AR, until 1868. Other offspring of Ann E. BRAY include Jefferson BRAY, who I think later bought land and moved to MO in the late 1870s. There was also a matilda BRAY listed in the 1870 census, but she may have been a cherokee indian child adopted by the family earlier. Columbus N. BRAY later was married to a Matilda and this may be the same Matilda. I don't have a clue as to who the father in the family was.The Census states that Ann was born in Tennessee, while Columbus was born in MO. Jefferson was born in AR. Columbus was born in 1856; Jefferson was born in 1860 or 1861. Matilda was born in 1854. Ann was born in the 1830s probably. If these names / dates / places ring a bell with anybody, please let me know. I don't want to have to re-invent the wheel if someone else has done research and is willing to share.
