    3. Searching for more information about GGgrandfather Nathan J. BRAY b.1839 d. 1901. was living in Appanoose County Iowa prior to moving to SE Colorado in 1880's. m. Rebecca Susan REDBURN. Children I know of are (a) Elizabeth Emeline Bray my GGrandmother b. 1865 in Appanoose County, Iowa (b) Ellen Susan Bray b. abt 1868 in Appanoose County, Iowa (c) Oliver M. Bray. Elizabeth m. William Henry Denney; Ellen m. Alva Alonzo Denney. These Denney's were brothers, the sons of Johnathan Denney who died in Appanoose County, Iowa in 1869. Nathan Bray served with the 36th Iowa Infantry Co. C in the CW and was captured at the Battle of Marks' Mills Arkansas on April 25, 1864, and spent the remainder of the war as a POW at Camp Ford, Tyler, TX There is a Denny Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa. Buried there are Abigail Bray d. 1874, Asenath Bray d. June 26, 1865, John Bray d.1861 and Oliver Bray d. 1869. I do not know the connection between these BRAYS and Nathan J.
