David, I found some old notes of mine. These are notes I scribbled into Edna Bray Reece's second book, where she gives a brief outline of the Chatham and Randolph County, N.C. Brays. She gives the parents of the following Henry Bray as Henry, b ca 1681, d. 1794, md. to Mary Wilson, Chatham Co, Will dated 1790, Probated 1794. The above information has come from several sources and I do not know how accurate any of them are. I don't see your Caroline's name, but could she have been a descendant of one of the Brays mentioned here? I still haven't looked for the letters that have more information on the Hughes.
