Hi Mary and Don, I have a BRAY in Screven Co. GA - just across the state to the east from Marion Co. Her name was Sarah Bray and she married William PEARCE. Do you have any Brays in Effingham or Screven Co? I don't know anything about Sarah's parents, but she was born about 1763, married William Pearce in about 1781, and died in 1801. She is listed as William Pearce's spouse in the DAR records, as he fought in the Revolutionary War. I don't have the records of his service yet, however. I'm hoping it will tell me more than I know, when I do send for them. William Pearce's father was Joshua Pearce and he married Hannah GREEN, so that name is also familiar with yours, Mary. Joshua and Hannah were originally from NC. Hannah is related to the family of Nathanial Green somehow (I believe he was an officer in the Revolutionary War). I also have LANIER, MUNSON, TANNER, and TALBOT families who married into the PEARCE line in and around Screven Co. GA. Some of them (my line of Munson and Pearce) moved to MS (Wilkinson Co.), then LA (West Feliciana and Rapides Parishes), then finally to TX. Do any of these sound familiar to you?
