Surnames: Bray, Turner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5gF.2ACIB/1203 Message Board Post: I have just begun a search on my father's family. Very, very little is known. This is all the info I have: My great grandfather's name was Fred Bray (full name unknown - possibly from Arkansas). He would have been born between 1888 and 1901. I believe he was born in 1888 but cannot document it yet. He married my biological great grandmother (her name is unknown). She died before 1948. Fred married a woman known to my father and uncle Terry as "Grandma Desser" (sp?). Fred Bray died sometime shortly after 1967. Fred had 3 sons. Paul Bray, Earl Wayne Bray (my grandfather), and Ralph Bray. It is known my grandfather, Earl Wayne Bray, was born on Dec. 3, 1920-24. Paul was the oldest brother and Ralph was the youngest. Their birthdays and places of birth are also unknown. It is possible that Paul was residing in CA when he died and it is believed that Ralph moved to Arkansas in mid-late 1960s. Ralph had married (her name is also unknown) and had one son called "Vonnie" (sp?). Paul married but had no children. Both Earl Wayne Bray and Ralph Bray were in WWII. Earl served in Greenland and Ralph in Germany. Ralph was discharged due to injuries sustained to his ears (drums). Earl Wayne Bray married Sue Carthel(sp?)Turner (year unknown - possibly in AR). Sue was born Oct. 5, 1925. They had two sons. My father, Troy Wayne Bray (born Feb. 15, 1945) and Terry (born Oct. 4, 1948). Sue and Earl divorced in 1950-51. Earl died in Orange County, CA 1994. I am new to this and know this is not alot of info, so please understand. My family never stayed in touch and rarely spoke of any family history. If anyone knows anything, please contact me!! Thank you :) Rebecca

    3. Rebecca, Here is what the 1930 census has to say about your Fred Bray: He was a laundry man living in the town of Illinois, Pope County, Arkansas. He was born in 1888. His wife was Hazel. In the household are sons, Paul, 16, Wayne, 9, Ralph 7, and daughter Mary, 1 month old. The reason I know this is that I was looking for my grandfather, Fred Bray also born in Missouri but probably living in Arkansas in 1930. He was estranged from my grandmother who was living in Pontiac, Michigan. My Fred Bray was born in Morehouse, MO in 1885, married my grandmother in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1903 and died in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1933. Hope this gives you a little bit of information to build on. I recommend that you take a closer look at your Fred Bray in 1930 census to make sure you have all of the information from the various categories. I only took brief notes.
