Surnames: Poindexter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5gF.2ACIB/528.632.639.641 Message Board Post: I have recently started research in the Poindexter family tree. I would be very interested in the information that you have regarding the Poindexter family history. So far, I have been able trace back to Rev James Poindexter and wife identified as Miss Craft (early 1800's). Their son Thomas C (I believe to be Captain) would have been my great-great grandfather. He and wife Nancy (White) had eight children. Dr James K.; Fannie; Benjamin F; Martha Angie (Angelina); Dr Gillam H; Mary L; John B; and William (b. 1852). William is my great grandfather and a judge in Cleburne, Tx. He and first wife Mary T (Chambers) had two children, Joseph (d. 1901) and Harriet. Mary (Chambers) Poindexter died in 1897. Judge Poindexter re-married in 1899 to Lissa Smith. They had nine children, Coggin; Martha; Curtis, Lewis; Gilbert; Helen; Nelson; Hugh; and my father William. My father William was a Dentist (Baylor grad) and practiced in Shattuck, Okla at the Newman clinic. He married ! Jane M. Webster from Cleburne, Tx and together they had two sons, my older brother William and me. My father Dr William Poindexter (Dentist) was plagued with rhumatoid artheritis which eventually led to his death at an early age. I was only about eight months old when he passed on. My mother re-married and mover north with her new husband Robert E. Phelps. As a result, my brother and I have had no contact with the Poindexter family since. I would appreciate any information that you might have regarding my family. Thanks and I hope to hear from you.
