It reads: Official Bond - Road Overseer - State of Kansas - Chautauqua Co., ss, James Bray, chosen Road Overseer in Road District No. 2, in the Township of Washington and County of Chautauqua and Samuel Bray and A.B. White his sureties, do hereby jointly and severally agree to pay to the State of Kansas Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, Now if said Road Overseer shall safely keep and pay over to the proper person or authority, all moneys which may be collected or received by him, or which may otherwise come into his hands by virtue of his office, and duly, honestly and faithfully discharge and perform all and singular his duties as such Road Overseer, according to law, then this bond shall be void, otherwise to remain in full-force and effect. Dated at Cedarvale Ks. this 15th day of December 1899. Signatures of parties involved are at this space. Approved by me, this 15th day of December A.D., 1899 - E.A. Brown. - Township Trustee (Signature) This bond must be approved by Township Trustee Official Oath of Road Overseer - I do solemnly swear, That I will support the Constitution of the United States , and the Constitution of the State of Kansas, and faithfully discharge the duties of Road Overseer, So help me God.
