In February of this year I posted a query to the BRAY message board. The query was automatically sent to the mail list also. The responses to my query were made to the mail list (which I wasn't subscribed to) instead of the message board, so I didn't receive them. I just found them in the mail list archives. My post: I am looking for any information on Elkanah Bray, born 05 Oct 1771 in Boston, Mass, to David Bray and Rebecca Hallet. Elkanah married Elizabeth Bentley in Delaware, date unknown, Elizabeth's parents unknown. Elkanah may have been a sea captain. He possibly died in Philadelphia, PA, date unknown. Children unknown, except Mary who married David Vondersmith. --- In the 1800 census, Elkanah was in New Castle county, Delaware. By 1810 he was in Philadelphia, PA. One person said his first name was actually "Elhanon" but it is Elkanah in the 1800, 1810 and 1820 census records and in "The Library of Cape Cod History and Genealogy, The Bray Family of Yarmouth." He was the master of the Brig James Coulter of Philadelphia on 26 January 1832. I'm interested in whether anyone might have additional information. Thank you very much! Marcy
