My Brays are from Maine. I've found my gggrandfather, Melzar and his wives and their children in Avon, Maine and his birth about 1800. I think his father is Daniel but need to prove that which will set up my line back to the 1600, I think. NOBODY seems to know anything about them. Melzar married sisters, Susannah and Sally Clark, parents, Elijah and Susanna Thompson Clark. I believe they were instrumental in settling 'Thompson Town'. Thanks for whatever help you can provide. It has been a long time since I first saw it and copied some of the pages. Since you are looking for the ancestry that preceded the Henry Bray who was the patriarch of the family posted on that particular site, it would not have been of much assistance to you, because there was no earlier line given. What branch of the Brays are you trying to research? The person who did that website evidently came from the William Bray who left N.C. and went to Indiana in the 1820's. Then his son, Alfred, went to Illinois. My great-grandmother was Alfred's younger sister. ==== BRAY Mailing List ==== Bray Family GenConnect Query Board at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Bray ============================== Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
