He would be my great grandfather. I don't know if you will get this message. I hope you do! I don't see your email address, otherwise I would email you directly. Do you know/did you ever find anything on Fred? Would you happen to know his son's names? My GGrandfather would have been born anywhere from 1888 - 1905. He married (I do not know her name) and had 3 sons (Paul, Earl Wayne, & Ralph). His wife died and he remarried a woman known as "Desser" (sp?). Hope you see this! Thanks, Rebecca Bray Bridges
Rebecca, Here is what the 1930 census has to say about your Fred Bray: He was a laundry man living in the town of Illinois, Pope County, Arkansas. He was born in 1888. His wife was Hazel. In the household are sons, Paul, 16, Wayne, 9, Ralph 7, and daughter Mary, 1 month old. The reason I know this is that I was looking for my grandfather, Fred Bray also born in Missouri but probably living in Arkansas in 1930. He was estranged from my grandmother who was living in Pontiac, Michigan. My Fred Bray was born in Morehouse, MO in 1885, married my grandmother in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1903 and died in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1933. Hope this gives you a little bit of information to build on. I recommend that you take a closer look at your Fred Bray in 1930 census to make sure you have all of the information from the various categories. I only took brief notes. Very, very little is known. This is all the info I have: My great grandfather's name was Fred Bray (full name unknown - possibly from Arkansas). He would have been born between 1888 and 1901. I believe he was born in 1888 but cannot document it yet. He married my biological great grandmother (her name is unknown). She died before 1948. Fred married a woman known to my father and uncle Terry as "Grandma Desser" (sp?). Fred Bray died sometime shortly after 1967. Fred had 3 sons. Paul Bray, Earl Wayne Bray (my grandfather), and Ralph Bray. It is known my grandfather, Earl Wayne Bray, was born on Dec. 3, 1920-24. Paul was the oldest brother and Ralph was the youngest. Their birthdays and places of birth are also unknown. It is possible that Paul was residing in CA when he died and it is believed that Ralph moved to Arkansas in mid-late 1960s. Ralph had married (her name is also unknown) and had one son called "Vonnie" (sp?). Paul married but had no children. Both Earl Wayne Bray and Ralph Bray were in WWII. Earl served in Greenland and Ralph in Germany. Ralph was discharged due to injuries sustained to his ears (drums). Earl Wayne Bray married Sue Carthel(sp?)Turner (year unknown - possibly in AR). Sue was born Oct. 5, 1925. They had two sons. My father, Troy Wayne Bray (born Feb. 15, 1945) and Terry (born Oct. 4, 1948). Sue and Earl divorced in 1950-51. Earl died in Orange County, CA 1994. Hi Phyllis... I just found your email from last July...somehow it got lost in the numerous "junk" emails that come in daily. I am so glad it wasn't deleted!!! It sure sounds like we are cousins!!! Actually, you are my husband's cousin! But, we have been married 39 years and I feel as if I am a "real" Bray... Have any of the other Bray's connected with you, since our posts? I'm thinking that you have been in contact with Robert Worthington...as he sent me a photo of Jenny Bray, that I think you must have sent to him. Is that right? Jim and I would love to hear back from you! Where are you living? We are in the Grass Valley area, although Jim's grandfather George Bray - Jennie's brother- moved to the bay area as a young man, and many years later Jim and I moved back to the family territory. Hope to hear back from you.... I have absolutely no information on your Alabama Bray but would be interested to know anything about her family. I have a Quinn family connection to the Bray family that starts in Duplin Co NC until 1810. The Quinns arrived in Simpson Co MS around mid 1820's, their mother Mary was either a Bray by birth or married a Bray between 1801 and 1808 after the death of their father James Quinn. Apart from the male David Quinn there could have been a Catherine married to Michael Hill, in 1850 living with daughter married to George Albritton. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? Hi All, If you have more than one email address, PLEASE, read this. The Rootsweb list are setup to accept mail from the address you subscribe under. If you send an email from any other address it gets bounced as possible spam. There are a couple of things you can do about this. 1. Is to subscribe to the list from all the addresses you might post a message from. 2. Send me the addresses that you may post from, but do not want to subscribe from. I can then add them to the "accepts file" for the list which will tell the spam filters for the list that your message isn't spam. :) If you choose this second option, please include the name of the list(s) you are subscribed to, as I admin more than one list.
