Hello! A nice place which posts family photos for free is: http://www.ancientfaces.com/ I have an old tin type too and cannot identify the folks in the picture. It could be my Georgia Brays, Hansfords, or McLeairds. Maybe none of those. I found the tintype in my grandmother's box of family pictures. I posted this picture on Ancient Faces under "Mystery Couple". If anyone on the list wishes to see this picture via computer just write me at: southerncross@pgtc.com I am sure I cannot send a picture over the internet on this list, but will be glad to send you one privately if you wish. Hello, I have several old photos, (Tin Types, Etc.) I believe they are of my Bray family, but I am not 100 percent sure they are of the Bray family line. That is why I need help in Identifying the photos. Does anyone know of a sight where I can post them, perhaps someone will be able to help me identify my family photos. Regards, Kenneth
What is your Bray line? My grandmother, Nettie Francis BRAY Johnson, did a lot of tin type photo work in the 1920's in Kansas. In the 1960's a storage shed was broken into and about a dozen cameras and several hundred tin types were stolen. We were never able to recover any of it. I am not looking to recover anything, but if you happen to have any of it, I may be able to identify some of the people for you. Hullo from Sydney ,Australia, I am seeking info re my Great-Grandfather JOSEPH BRAY. I believe he was prabavly born in England but it may have been Ireland. Im am told his father was also JOSEPH and JOSEPH 11 was serving with the Roual Engineers in Spike Island, Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland and in 1857 applied for and was granted permission to marry Margaret Chapman. This he did and my Grandfather WILLIAM JOSEPH BRAY (later known as Chapman in Australia where he married and died in that name) was born in 1858. There was also a daughter Mary Jane in 1862 and her mother Margaret died a few days later and is buried in Cloyn Cemetary. I dont know what happened to the daughter. Father Joseph Bray was sent to serve in Canada where he deserted in August 1863. This is where the trail finishes but I have found a Joseph Bray born Irel who married Ann Bray 1872 in New York. The big qurstion is, is he the sane Joseph Bray? By this time his sin was in Australia living as Chapman' Pardon any ,isakes, I now have limited vision. Lex Campbell, Sydney, Australia.

The family moved on to Scotland where they lived until taking up arms with Oliver Cromwell when he went to Ireland. Then to Virginia to Maryland and ultimately to North Carolina before dispursing thoughout the western states. They were my great great grandparents and had married by 1901 as they were on the census with 2 sons, William James (aged 3) and Frederick J (who was 1). My great grandmother was born to them in 1904 and was Margaret Joyce Bray (1904-74). They had 6 or 7 children altogether - Seth (b. circa 1906 who died near Singapore during a torpedoe attack in WWII), Romilly (who died as a result of a motorbike accident aged 21) and Sylvia who died in 2001 at the age of 92. Of these, only Joyce had any children of her own (the rest died unmarried/except for Seth who married a divorcée). Subsequently, due to the near-nothing amount of marriage in this family - there are only 5 great great grandchildren of Richard and Bessie (myself being the eldest at 16 years) If anyone has any info on Bessie's family (i.e. her parents, siblings etc...) i would be very greatful. She had a sister called Beattie - both Bessie and Beattie were alive in 1950. Thanks Tom cory

Don't suppose by any chance you have seen the 1851 Census, I could do with finding out who Edwin's brothers or sisters were. Other Brays around that time were Arthur, Ben, & Henry all born in Thurlstone so I think these could be possible brothers, not sure. Await your reply Regards Donna

I myself live in Manitoba and there is currently a Dallas Bray, Larry Bray, and Sandra Johnson (Bray). They are my mothers siblings. Their father was Percy Bray and Violet (Law) Bray. Percy's Father was Benjamin Bray mother was Ellen (Brown) Bray. Benjamin and Ellen were situated in Saskatchewan BUT Benjamin and his Father Thomas 9 Mother Sarah (Must look up last name again!) were around the Dauphin MANITOBA area for many years back in the early 1900 (I could be wrong about the dates so I wont bother right now) and they were well known for the horses that they bred. They had a well known Horse operation before they moved to the Tisdale Saskatchwan area.

It shows Gustaf Bray was born 09/10/1874 in Wisconsin and married Mary Beauplotz born abt 1879 in Wisconsin. Their children were Edward Rudolph ( my husband's grandfather),Charles, Henry, Emma, and Alice. Gustaf's parents were Fred Bray born 1847 and Mary Loebel born 01/29/1854 in Austria. Their children were including Gustaf, Edward, Lewis, Charles, Mary and Minnie ( twins). Mary's parents were Joseph Loebel and Johanna Rollig also from Austria. She also had a brother Frank, born Dec 24, 1857 According to one of the family notes, Frank came to Oregon, accompanied by his father Joseph. I am unsure when that happened though. Joseph died in Linn Co, Oregon, Aug 27, 1912. If any of these names sound familiar please let me know. I am willing to share what information I have. I want to be able to verify the information on the family tree.
