    1. [BRAY-L] BRAY, Squire 1850 Williamson Co., IL
    2. Emma Gene Gentry
    3. I need help in identifying Squire BRAY, age 14, born AL, according to the 1850 census of Williamson Co., IL. He is living in the household of John MARSHALL, age 36, farmer, born SC and his wife, Nancy BRAY, age 36, born KY. Other children in the household are surnamed MARSHALL: Elizabeth E. 16, Permelia W. 14, Sarah J. 11, Rebecca 9, Marion 7 and Merrill 7 (evidently these 2 male children were twins), Isaac N. 5, and John 7 months. Also in the household was a 50 year old Elizaabeth BRAY, born KY. I assume that Elizabeth was the widowed mother of Nancy BRAY. If so, who was Elizabeth's husband? Who is Squire BRAY? Was he a grandchild of Elizabeth? Or, could he have been a child of Elizabeth? Obviously the MARSHALL family had been living in AL for some years because their oldest 6 children show AL birthplaces. Only the 2 youngest children show IL birthplaces. But where were they in AL? They should have been there somewhere in 1840, but exhaustive research has failed to find them. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Emma Gene Gentry Emma Gene (Seale) Gentry {[email protected]} Austin, Texas

    3. Good evening Bray cousins. We're just starting to research our Bray line. Your notice caught my attention. My husband has both BRAY's and WHITAKER'S in his family tree. His mother is Beulah Beatrice Bray. She married Harold Michael Pike and Charles Thornell. We also know of an uncle of hers, Eugene Bray who married a Pauline ___? Eugene died in 1996. Do these names sound familiar to anyone? 3. Does any of these people sound familar? I can't find out much information on her or her parents, we just discovered her real madian name. In the 1850 census she is living with the Davis in Grayson County but appeartunly she isn't a Davis, there is a Margaret Bray/Brey living there as well. 1. BRAY, Martha(Howerton)-1900-St. Joseph, MO.
    2. Although Martha Jane Howerton and Bryant BRAY were married 1876 in Barbourville, Knox County, KY. and their son James was born there in 1879, by 1900 they are found in a city directory for St. Joseph, Buchannon Co., MO. on St. Joseph Ave. but were not listed in the 1920 census. Oddly enough the census ennumeration districts for the city each started on either side of the address from the directory. Later(not sure exactly when) Martha is listed by herself in the directory. Besides James, other children were said to be Will, Roy, and a daughter, Pearl. Will was also listed in one directory as a "syrup maker". Questions: What happened to Bryant? What happened to sons; did Pearl marry, and if so, to whom? My grandfather James and his family were living in Crowder,McIntosh Co., OK, when he was killed in a constuction cave-in in 1921. His widow, Frona(Stevenson)BRAY lost touch with her in-laws. Does anyone know anything about this branch?? Nancy Bray Cooper
