    3. I was surprised to receive a "confirmation" that my posts to the BRAY-L list had been received from someone named Nan Krushinski <[email protected]> she even cc'd the former BRAY-L listowner Harold Helm. After many, repeated complaints to Rootsweb, all of Harold Helm's lists were taken away from him, and new listowners were found for them...I took over the BRAY-L list at that time. Harold Hem and Nan Krushinski have no connection with the BRAY-L list, so ignore any communications that you might received from them about it. Harold Helm is already on the *reject* list for BRAY-L.. that means that he cannot post to it. Please let me know if you hear from Nan Krushinski, if she bothers you, I will put her on the reject list too. Thomas Bray financed its construction - hence, its title. The land on which it sits was deeded as a land grant from the U.S. general land office on 1 July 1845. This first mention in the abstract was filed in Miller County on 3 May 1901 and was signed by J. Knox Walker for the President of the United States, James Knox Polk. Over approximately 145 years, the mill has changed ownership dozens of times. The abstracts state names, such as, Larkin Osburn, David Winingham, Mesach Rowden, John and William Rowden, James Buchanan, President of the United States, U. S. Grant (again, our President), several members of the Bray family, Guy Smith, and Isaac Smith. The entire list is too numerous to mention here. Bray's Mill has been sold for as little as $1.00 or for as much as $40,000. It has been sold to pay back taxes. Other purchase prices were $10.00, $25.00, and $1500.00. Thomas A. Bray died on 6 November 1906 in the town of Pay Down, Maries County, Missouri. He left behind, his wife, Mahala, 4 sons, and 5 daughters. For most of its existence, Bray's Mill has supported and survived as a grist mill. However, it has also served as a Post Office, a safe haven for tired travelers, a dentist office (operated by Guy Smith), and an ice manufacturing plant from 1931 to 1942. Isaac Smith produced 16-300 pound blocks of ice each 24 hours and delivered ice to the surrounding community. He made ice from spring water which filled 16 ice forms. Ammonia coils surrounded the forms and froze the water into ice. The ammonia was pumped by compresors which were powered by the overshot water wheel. The springs produced approximately 700 gallons of water per minute (and still do). Bray's Mill is located 3 1/4 miles east on Highway 42 from Iberia. >From Iberia, cross Kenser Creek and take the first gravel road to the left. Proceed 2/10 of a mile to a Y junction. Take the left leg. You're there!" The last time I was over in Richwoods township it looked like Bray's Mill had been converted to a private residence. Hope this information helps! I am not familiar with the area and wonder if anyone would have an idea where he would be buried? Is there a cemetery in that area where they would have put him or would he be buried at Bray's Mill? I am not familiar with what Bray's Mill is (or Big Richwoods is for that matter). Would he have a tombstone? Would anyone have an old map of the area during that time or a current one that would show this area? I'm new to this list, so hope it's okay for me to ask these questions????? 2. The Hickey's
    3. Hi All, I'm looking for the birth and marriages of my 2x-Great-grandfather, Richard Thomas Stripling Augustus BRAY, possibly from Somerset, England. Most of what I know about him is from oral traditions. Richard's first marriage was to Sarah PYE circa 1860. They had two daughters: Lydia Hettie BRAY born 1862 at Banwell, Somerset, England; and, Annie BRAY. According to Lydia's birth certificate, Richard was an Assistant Chemist. Sarah PYE died circa 1866, and Richard BRAY remarried. He and his second wife (whose name I don't know) had a daughter named Ethel BRAY. Ethel later married a Mr. MAGARRICK [sp?]. Richard BRAY died from Tuberculosis on 6 Nov 1872. Lydia Hettie BRAY was hired as a nanny in the 1880's by a widower, Richard Thompson MUNROE of Bermuda. In 1886, she and Richard MUNROE were wed in Bermuda. Lydia died in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1940. Any help on this branch would be greatly appreciated! TIA . . Bonnie Hickey

    2. Erik G. Warwick-White
    3. Hi, My name is Erik Warwick-White and I am now researching my maternal line, having successfully managed to trace my paternal one back to circa 1630, (over many years!). BRAY Eva Violet Alice born 29th October 1909, died 27th October 1995, was my mother. BRAY William Frederick Born circa1876/7 in Winterslow, Wiltshire England was my grandfather and was always known as Fred. He died in Little Durnford Salisbury Wiltshire in 1958. He had several siblings. The ones I know of are BRAY Agnes born 1870s married name FISHER BRAY Percy born 1870s BRAY female, initial C married name YEATES I believe there were several other siblings, but I do not know their names. My mother told me many years ago that my grandfather's mother was widowed very young and had several children under 12 to support with no husband. My grandfather was head gardener on the Little Durnford estate, near Salisbury for all his married life. His wife was WHITE Alice Ellen, always known as Nell or Nellie. She died in 1950. Tracing any of these families prior to these people is proving difficult and if anyone out there has any information on any of the above, their forebears or descendants, I would love to hear from you, and I am looking for any relatives world-wide. Best wishes, Erik.

    2. Hi! I looked through my 21 yrs of Bray records and found this: Henry Bray, born in Halifax, VA was father of Jordon Bray. Lewis Ronson Bray was the son of Jordon Bray. Lewis was born 27 Nov 1831 in S. Boston, VA and died 13 Sept 1884 in Hallisville, Texas. I am sorry that I find no documentation for you. It must have come from someone I corresponded with years ago. However, it should give you a starting place with names. You can go to census, wills, deeds, etc. I hope this helps. Rita
