Dear Bray Researchers, Thanks to Jane Hutchings who today sent me in the mail a letter concerning her research of Ball Family. Peter Bray below married Sarah Atherton. His sister Margaret (Peggy) Bray married James Ball- and they had a son named Henry Ball Henry BALL b. 24 December 1775, Hampshire Co., VA; d. 1836, Nicholasville, KY; m. MARGARET SHELLY, 05 January 1808, Fayette Co., KY. He died 1836 Nicholasville, KY in this letter was the following information: Henry Ball married Nancy Wise, July 11, 1820, consent by mother , Elizabeth Wise, widow. Wit: John Ball, David Patton, David Wise, bond: David Patton, Min: George Strother. Who was David Patton? it looks like the Elizabeth Wise on Peter Bray's will maybe the Mother of the Nancy Wise who married Henry Ball . Therefore her reason for attending will of Peter Bray is clear. Henry Ball would have related to Peter Bray. The question is who was the parents of the Henry Ball who married Nancy Wise? Still more to learn but Jane Hutchings your Ball Family is the same which is related to my Bray Family. >his son Peter Bray's will in Hamilton, Ohio after his death 23 Oct 1838 >names beneficiaries: Henry Bray, Thomas Bray, Catherine Nugent, Gerusha >Golden, Sarah Cochrane, Elizabeth Wise and Mary Emerson. Not necessarily >all children. >
Dear Bray researchers, I know I have not been able to draw a connection with the Bray Family I'm researching and the ones most of you are researching. I'm researching the Henry Bray who married a Catherine _____________ Henry Bray born abt 1727-1738, Washington County, Maryland died abt 3 Jul 1798, New Haven , Nelson County, KY his son Peter Bray's will in Hamilton, Ohio after his death 23 Oct 1838 names beneficiaries: Henry Bray, Thomas Bray, Catherine Nugent, Gerusha Golden, Sarah Cochrane, Elizabeth Wise and Mary Emerson. Not necessarily all children. Peter Bray had a brother Frederick Bray who married Lucy Carder, and as yet, nobody has proven that this Frederick Bray had any children. I believe he did, but they may have spread out to further distant parts. Frederick Bray I believe had sons Henry Bray and Thomas Bray. Henry BRAY born 5 OCT 1793 probably Hampshire County. VA/WVA Died 13 Nov 1861 probably Franklin County., OH . He is mentioned in 1883 in a summons and lived near Abbot CARDER in 1812 then he later moved To Ohio.Abbot Carder was Lucy Carder's brother. Thomas B BRAY born abt 1795 married Martha MARTIN in 1823 CLARK County, . Ohio and had at least 4 children one named Abbott BRAY then married in 1840 - 2nd to Laura A. RICH . He Died 1848 Putnam County, Ohio Now If The Names listed on Peter Bray's will are really mostly Frederick Bray's children, then we may have a connection. Henry Bray, Thomas Bray, Catherine Nugent, Gerusha Golden, Sarah Cochrane, Elizabeth Wise and Mary Emerson. Gerusha Golden is supposed to be a daughter of Peter Bray. A Jerusha Bray married Stephen Golding. Spelling of names are sometimes so misspelled in records that it is difficult to find people. Frederick Bray who married Lucy Carder was living in Ross County, Ohio. His Brother Peter Bray was living in Hamilton County, Ohio. There are Cochran Family living near Frederick Bray in Ross County, Ohio. The St. Lawrence River begins in Canada, but I believe it also passes through Ohio. Do we have any people good in Geography that can tell me which cities the St. Lawrence River passes through in Ohio or if it does? I know this is a long shot but I think that their is some connection with Cochran and Bray Family, and it likely has something to do with the Frederick Bray who married Lucy Carder. Was Sarah Cochran a Bray by maiden name? was she a daughter or niece of Frederick Bray? Was the Frederick Bray mentioned below the same Frederick Bray that married Lucy Carder? or did this Frederick Bray have a son named Frederick Bray that may have moved to Canada? Can we tie these Cochran Family members to those in Ross County, Ohio? More About Amy Elizabeth Cochrane: Baptism (LDS): St Johns Church/York Mills 26. vi. Florence Cochrane, b. April 17, 1858, Glenview, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; d. January 09, 1940. 27. vii. John Bray Cochrane, b. August 01, 1860, Cacouna, C.E.; d. April 14, 1946. viii. Frederick Ernest Cochrane, b. January 10, 1863, Glenview/Toronto/Ontario/Canada; d. July 04, 1886, Brockville/Ontario/Canada. Notes for Frederick Ernest Cochrane: Born at 7:30pm on 10-Jan-1863. Drowned in the St. Lawrence River near Brockville Frederick Bray was a sponsor at his christening.

What other areas were your Bray ancestors in? Who were brother's and Sister's or is that also what you do not know. Relatives on either side can lead you to those you seek. The more known the better. Hi Listers, I have been "out of the loop" for awhile this year, but would like to throw out a new set of names for you all. My mother's oldest sister had a friend as I was growing up, who, although his name was also BRAY, to the best of our knowledge, was not related to my father's line, but looked amazingly like the John BRAY pictured in Edna Bray Reece's BRAYS OF FISHER RIVER. This year I learned that his sister had passed away, and through a series of serendipitous events, I was able to get some information from her daughter. I would very much like to find more details on this line. James L. BRAY m. Susan E. HILLIARD Sibs. of James L.: Brothers: Elex, Alva, Preston, "Tip"(?) Sister: Jamie Sibs. of Susan: Brothers: Alonzo and Benono Sisters: Mollie, "Sis"(?)Texoma James F. BRAY b. ?? m. Julia (OZMENT?, dau. refers to her grandmother's family as OZMENT))b. 1868 Paradise, Wise Co., TX Sibs.: Walter, Lonnie, Virgil, Ruby Children: James E. ("Ed") John Patton ("Bud") Jesse Geoffery Raymond Lee ("Ray") Oran Odell Ina Wilsie MINNICK-b. 1911-d.3-1999 Sadie Beatrice METCALF Delia Estelle ALSIP James E. and Julia married in Wise Co., and lived there until they moved to the Romulus(?) area of OK in 1913. (Ina lived in Seminole Co. for many years.) These names were taken from Ina's Bible. If anyone recognizes anything, please contact me. Thank you, Nancy Bray Cooper [email protected]

Hello Bray Researchers, I've just posted my first online gedcom, and in it are several Brays, my father's mother's family. Check them out at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=dberry They came from England, probably Devonshire or perhaps Cornwall. This is their online debut, as I have not found any of them on any websites or cd-rom collections. If you find any familiar names, please let me know! All the best, David Berry Are We related? Visit my online genealogy database & let me know if you see any familiar names: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=dberry
Bray Researchers, Please send to me privately. I'm starting an E-mail list of all of you that are related to the Bray Family. Some are not on Bray list, but are on County, lists. What I hope to do in the next few weeks is Start sorting out what everyone knows and see if we can expand our knowledge on Bray family. Or if you prefer we can all subscribe to the Bray list and discuss it further. That list at present is very calm. I would like to change that. Send me a letter stating how you are related to bray family and a lineage chart. I will take your E-mail address and your information and consolidate it with other information recieved from others. then I will send out to all who have given me their address what I learned from everyone. Hopefully this will help us all to identify all Bray's in Kentucky or wherever, they went. I'm interested in all decendants of Henry Bray and Wife Catherine_________.

Dear researchers would like to discuss Abraham Bray who married Eleanor "Nelly " Baptist Howard or any brothers or sisters of Abraham Bray. I'm a Clark researcher who ties into Bray family through Abraham Bray.
Looking for the parents of William Monroe Bray, b. about 1879 in Scottsboro, AL. Moved to AR and lived in either or both Woodruff and Prairie Counties. He then moved to Memphis, TN with his wife Maude Leoya Neill, b. 1879 in TN. They were married in Prairie Co., AR in 1901. Any leads at all would help. We were told at one time that he was from Ohio but I have their marriage certificate and his place of birth is Alabama. Thanks so much. Pamela Hazen

I agree it is "not the kind of subject matter that is suppose to come through rootsweb mailing lists", but it came at a very good time for me, and I forwarded it to my family and friends, along with one I also just received this week, from a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church, citing how the incident is being used for God's Glory. If anyone else is interested, I would be happy to forward it to them privately, in respect to your, and the original intent of the list's, request. I do not mean for this to get into any kind of "flame", and I will not respond to any other "reply"s on the list, and I hope nobody else does either. If you haven't, please don't. But let me just add finally, if you have seen this week's news of the shoot out in Pleasanton, TX, the DPS officer killed was my niece's husband. We lost my brother-in-law "in-the-line of duty" 20 years ago, and both my brother, another brother-in-law, and another cousin, are also in law inforcement, not *drafted*, but what they wanted to do. This is printed on the flyleaf of our published family history, as well as taken from our Ultimate family history(no *commercial* plug) "For this cause I bow my knee unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named". -Ephesians 3:14, 15 Nancy Bray Cooper Corpus Christi, TX [email protected] wrote: > > This is not the kind of subject matter that is suppose to come through > rootsweb mailing lists.
