My friend is decended from Robert Ross Bratton, and I'm helping him with his family tree. I think Thomas Bratton (the one in question) was married to Elizabeth Delina Pursley. I find Thomas and Elizabeth Pursley sandwiched between two families of Pursley's in the 1860 Fed census, which only strengthens the validity of this clue. (Naturally, I believe they are related to Elizabeth Pursley Bratton, but I haven't found the connection.) Also, do you know anything about the wife of Robert Ross Bratton - is her name Ann Hopper?
