Birth date is given as 10 Nov 1824 in Hardin Co., TN. Parents: Paul Bratton b Aug 13, 1782 in Randolph Co., NC d. Feb 1858 in Hardin Co TN & Buried in Wayne Co., IN Quaker Cemetery (mother unknown). Paul's father is listed as Robert Bratton & mother as Mary Milliken. Nancy's parents are report to have married abt. 1800 & had 9 children born between abt 1803 and 1828.

Paul Bratton's first wife was apparently Sarah Clark, daughter of Thomas Clark (c1743-1787) and Sarah Clark. Thomas Clark was born about 1743 in York County, Pennsylvania and died 11 Dec 1787 in Randolph County, North Carolina. He was the son of Samuel Clark (d. 6 Sep 1783 Randolph County, North Carolina) and Elizabeth Bennett. Sarah Clark (wife of Thomas Clark) died before 11 Dec 1787. She was the daughter of James Clark (d. 1795/6 Orange County, North Carolina) and Elizabeth_________.
