Hi Mary Yes, we did correspond sometime ago. I haven't been able to confirm anyone as Malinda and Margaret's parents, but I feel fairly certain that they are sisters. Why don't we make a concerted effort to "press in" on this line? I have lots of paper notes - I used to be part of a Bratton traveling notebook years ago and gathered various types of census records, etc. After we get our daughter settled in to her new apt., I'll dig in and we can compare. I remember the Bratton's were connected somehow to a Samuel Fowler and were in KY for a time. More later, Marlene P.S. Hope you have a blessed Easter! "Mary K. Marlene, I also have a Bratton connection and it has been at a stand still for years! In your search if you come across anything about a James M. Bratton born May 21, 1872; I sure would be interested in it.. He married Gussie Curry (Obion, Tn) in 1896 Lake Co, Tn, they had one daughter Birtrue Bratton and James Curry Bratton was born after his father died. James M. Bratton died 1903 (Oct?) in Lake Co, Tn..His son was born Feb 9, 1904 in Tiptonville, Tn. In the 1900 Lake Co, Tn census, it has Gussie born in Ky, which we know is wrong, she was born in Obion, Tn. So we think that maybe James M. Bratton might have been born in Ky...No information on him..It is like he just appears for a marriage license and then die's... We do not know if he was born in Ky or Tn?? I have no idea who his parents are? I was even thinking that maybe his father died and the mother remarried; so with a different last name, it is near impossible to trace him. So if you run into anything about a James M. Bratton, please let me know. Marlene, No George Washington Bratton isn't his father; we looked into that several years ago and found that ; George Washington Bratton's son married someone else..We know our James married Sally Augusta Curry (Gussie) Thanks anyway, hopefully one day I will find his parents. I have to believe that he was raised close to Obion County, he died in Lake Co..I have even tried Hickman, Ky; that is not to far away, with no luck. Thank you taking the time to check for me. Dear Marlene, What I have found on Margarett Bratton is that she and Daniel Delph married in Gibson Co., TN 10 Nov 1831. Daniel and family are on the 1840 census for Gibson Co., TN, and dies shortly afterward as the estate is begun shortly afterward. They appoint an administrator. By 1850, I could not find Margaret or the children. I found from a person on the interenet that she had remarried a Peter P. Puckett and they are living in Madison Co., TN. The Shanes and one in particular were active in the estates of some of these people. The probate names all of Margarett and Daniel's children, all girls, one including my gr-grandmother, Mary Jane Delph. Mary Jane Delph and Joseph Blackwell married in Madison Co., TN. Interestingly, I found them in Lawrence Co., AR, in 1860. My other gr-grandparents , the Prevetts and Tindals, were also living there. I believe Margaret may have died there as that family is listed twice on that census, once with Margarett and once without her. Later, they move to Randolph Co., AR, where some of Margaret and Daniel Delphs daughters marry. And Peter Puckett remarries again in Randolph Co., AR. I just need to sit down and put all this material together and send it to you so that we can see if we can move the brick wall. Anyway, it is good to review all of this stuff. Mary K. Nowlin > >
