Are there any online resources specifically for the Staffordshire region which would be likely to provide the names of his parents? I would love to try to work forwards from his siblings if I can find any of them, which I imagine would have been born in the same area around the 1830's. His wife was called Louisa Horton, and they married in 1851. They had at least 6 children from 1855 until 1867 called Robert, John, Herbert, Charlotte, William and Louisa. regards Lorna Culverwell lornac83@hotmail.com

Bratton and we are from Houston although I think he was born somewhere north of Houston. He had several brothers. His mother was a twin who died shortly after he was born. We have a William Bratton, J.H. Bratton, Terrell , Annie, too many for me to think right now - its late but I will ask my Dad tomorrow all the names of the brothers and their mother and her sister, and their father who i think was a William Bratton - Junior Bratton sounds familiar I will find out. My granddad died last summer and we have been trying to put together a good family tree before everyone who knows the history dies! We have always been told there is Indian mixed in with our family but I am not sure exactly where - I will find out and re-post another note when I find out. We are also related to alot of Coffmans or Caufmans I am not sure which way it was spelled - but they were German and apparantly brothers of the Bratton family married sisters of the Caufmans! - dont know if anybody else knows of this line of Brattons but info posted to this would be really great - I will write back soon with the info i find.

Surnames: bratton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FdF.2ACEB/359 Message Board Post: Veteran's Name: John Bratton, there were at least 11, probably more, John Bratton's that served in the Army in WW2. Please understand that I am looking for a very specific person identified as best as I can based on what I have in the 561st Field Artillery roster. I have given the name as I have it. I will give First Name, Middle Initial, and Last Name if I have it. I will give First Name and Last Name if that is what I have. I will give the Last Name if that is all I have. Only when the Last Name is listed is there any leeway for many different possible First Names. I have searched the Social Security Death Index, the 1930 Census, and the Archives NARA AAD database, some obituaries, and some cemeteries. If anyone knows of an searchable, online military personnel database, please let me know. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: 1. This is NOT A TRUE GENEALOGY PROJECT because I am not looking for ancestors at all. I am looking for living veterans or in cases where the veteran is deceased, descendants or family members of the veteran. 2. I am looking for living veterans of World War 2: a. Who served in the US Army only in Europe from April, 1944 to July, 1945. b. And who specifically served only in the 561st Field Artillery Battalion. c. And whose birth year is between 1906 to 1926 with living men in the later years of the range. 3. I am also looking for family members or descendants in cases where a known veteran of the 561st Field Artillery Battalion is deceased. 4.
