She is said to have married an Alexander? Bratton perhaps in Huntingdon Co, PA, probably about 1843. Uncertain if her Bratton husband was actually named Alexander. This Alexander? Bratton has died by 1850 as Ann Bratton, 26, (w/o husband) and son John Bratton, 5, are listed on the 1850 census in Bradford Co, PA. Seeking a marriage record of Cooney and Bratton. This Anna Cooney Bratton marries a second time to a Thomas Beard in Huntingdon Co on 23 Sep 1857. States Mrs. Ann Bratton and that both were of Mifflin Co, PA. Anyone out here with ties to Anna Cooney. To Alexander? Bratton. The only likely Bratton household in Huntingdon Co in 1840 is a James Bratton household which has a male age 10 to 15 in it who could possibly be Alexander? Bratton. The only likely Cooney household in Huntingdon Co in 1840 is a Peter Cooney household which has two females ages 15 to 19, one of which could be Anna Cooney. Thanks for any help. Cheryl

I am descendant of Robert Bratton b.abt.1736,.who married Betsy Farren. He lived in Coleraine,Ma until about 1770, when they moved to Whitingham,Vt. I asked about the Bratton name at a Highland Games, and was shown a map where the Brattons came from SW Scotland, and the Farrens from just across the channel in Ireland. Does anyone have any further info on family origins?

And it was his son William c1742 who eventually moved to York Co, SC, and founded Brattonsville? Perhaps William c1718 did actually die in the French and Indiana War? Or perhaps he died in VA and never ventured to SC. It seems that Brattonville was begun about 1774, although the land was purchased about 10 years earlier (haven't documented). And seems to have been settled by a William Bratton c1742 married to a Martha Robinson from NC. This William Bratton is the Colonel William Bratton of the Revolutionary War of York Co, SC. And it makes sense as this William would have been about about 32 and old William c1781 born IRE would have been too old? I don't know if I have my Williams mixed up. I hope not. Cheryl

Apparently, this Margaret Bratton was married to a Samuel Bratton. Samuel died 1799. Samuel's father was James Bratton, Sr., who also died 1799. There seems to be a will for Samuel naming his children. This would be found, no doubt, in Mifflin Co, PA. Margaret seems to have actually been born c1765 according to response received (the 1800 census shows c1775 and not c1755, my mistake), and she died 1829 in Mifflin Co. She also has a will which names children. It also seems that Samuel and Margaret had three children and maybe Margaret had two more children but no marriage? Cannot confirm this. Hope this helps others. Cheryl
