    2. Nelson R. Sulouff
    3. Searching for descendants of Joseph Lester Bratton (1907-1994) of Mifflin Co. PA. In 1936 he married my father's first cousin, Martha Lodema Sulouff (1917-1936). At that time they were residents of Mifflin Co. PA. I would appreciate hearing from any of this couple's descendants who are interested in family history. They had three children born in Mifflin Co. PA between 1937 and 1945. I have their Sulouff lineage traced backward to 1722 and their Bratton lineage traced back to 1804. Sincerely, Rev. Nelson R. Sulouff, retired in AZ For example, see: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/nsulouff/SULOUFF_SULOFF_HISTORY.html

    3. I have Robert Bratton (1779-1854) listed as the son of Robert Bratton (1746-1824) and Mary Milliken (1747-1814). He was born in what is today Randolph County, North Carolina and can be found in the Quaker records of the area. His parents are buried at the Quaker Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana. Sorry I can't help on the wife's name. All I have for her is "E." too. Jerry W. I'd check for a newspaper obit as a start. An obit would give her parents' names and a host of other important info. Some library personnel will do obit lookups when there is an exact date of date and will photocopy for a small fee.

My friend is decended from Robert Ross Bratton, and I'm helping him with his family tree. I think Thomas Bratton (the one in question) was married to Elizabeth Delina Pursley. I find Thomas and Elizabeth Pursley sandwiched between two families of Pursley's in the 1860 Fed census, which only strengthens the validity of this clue. (Naturally, I believe they are related to Elizabeth Pursley Bratton, but I haven't found the connection.) Also, do you know anything about the wife of Robert Ross Bratton - is her name Ann Hopper?

The researcher was Bill Wheaton. That is where the book is. I am currently working full time and going to nursing school. Marilynn Wood Armstrong, one of my Wood cousins, has also transcribed a tremendous amount of information for Robertson county. My Minerva Bratton (of John Bratton and Nancy Hitt)was a sibling of one of her ascendants. Since your Bratton was in TN you might check the states of VA,NC,SC and GA as your persons ascendants might have come from the south as opposed to the north. If you feel the census taker switched up the info, check out RI, NJ, MD, VA. My Scot-Irish ancestors came from these states initially. I will try to recall if I see your Bratton in what I have on hardcopy.

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bratton/349.5/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Terri, I know it has been awhile since you posted this message, hoping you will answer. I have been trying for years to locate my Great Grandfather James M. Bratton B: 1872. I do not know if he was born in Tn or Ky. On the 1900 Lake Co, Tn census it has Gussie his wife born in Ky and him in Tn, which I know is wrong. Gussie was born in Obion, Tn, so that leads me to believe that James M Bratton was born in Ky. Lake Co is very close to Ky state line. Do you have any information on James M. Bratton KY 1872? A cousin found a letter his daughter had written about a half brother or stepbrother Jno Hatley???? I have no idea if this is correct, hoping you maybe to help? James M. Bratton died 1903 in Lake Co, Tn. Sharon Bratton Johnson s_johnson60@verizon.net
