In my files I have a James Thomas McKinstry b.9/1858 in Indiana, d.12/30/1907 in Peru, Miami Co. Indiana, son of James Bratton McKinstry (b.6/1828, d.10/5/1906 in Miami Co)and Louisa A. Unknown (b.10/1832 in Ind.,d.5/21/1913 in Peru, Ind.) James Bratton McKinstry (the father of James Thomas)was a son of Thomas McKinstry and Margaret Bratton. I also found a marriage record of Thomas McKinstry of Peru, Miami Co. married to Ada M. Rees on 11/20/1895 in Indiana, and a death record for James Thomas McKinstry age 49 who died 12/30/1907 in Peru. 1880 census for Washington Twp, Miami Co., Ind shows Ada M. McKinstry, wife of Thomas McKinstry, age 33, born 8/1866 in Indiana, married 4 yrs, with no children. I think all these references must be our "Thomas" of your obituary. Margaret Bratton's sister Elizabeth married William Carlisle. Margaret and Elizabeth Bratton were daughters of George B. Bratton and Rebecca McKinstry. Children of Margaret Bratton and Thomas McKinstry were Martha, George A., James B., Samuel, Joseph, Sarah, and Caroline.
