Folks, I was asked to mention the following so I will: Yes, there are NASTY viruses out there for PC users (I use a Mac and am not usually affected). These viruses, like Melissa, and this newest one, are receiving major media coverage on both radio and TV. There are also computer cable channels, newsgroups, mailing lists and web sites devoted to the subject so there are many places to receive information and stay up to date. We will NOT discuss them on the lists. The rootsweb listserv PREVENTS attachments from being posted to the list. ANY attachment that someone attempts to post (accidentally or on purpose) bounces back to me and I will contact the sender. You CANNOT catch a hitch hiker worm or virus from a rootsweb list posting. However....DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS IN YOUR PRIVATE EMAIL unless you are certain who they are from and unless you have run your virus disinfectant software. That is the rule and the only way to stay safe.
