I was filing genealogy info Sunday and came across a letter a cousin wrote several years ago...Lionel Branson's land was surveyed by George Washington...this would have been the land in the Lost River area of Virginia which I believe is now West Virginia... Her letter also mentioned that one of the Bransons (Lionel's family) owned slaves..one of which was Chicken George, ancestor of Alex Haley who wrote ROOTS...another cousin told her that someone had verified this information.. anne
