    2. Subj: Matilda Shockley Date: 07/23/2000 5:41:06 AM Central Daylight Time From: syvonne@earthlink.net To: earuth@aol.com Saw your posting and also am trying to find Matilda's lineage. How are you doing on it??? By the Way...did Mary Branson marry a Scott????? Sharon Sharon, I have a copy of early Shockley Families of Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland and Delaware, compiled by a (Genealogist,) Mrs. David A. Tripp. 3980 Eccles Ave., Ogden, Utah in 1970, but have been unsuccessful in finding how Matilda fits in. In 1850 William R. Branson/Matilda Shockley are living next door to the Thomas Shockley who md. 1) Elizabeth Burgess and 2) Elizabeth Briggs. This usually indicates a close relationship? If the census dates are correct? Matilda Shockley would have been only about 14 years old when she md. William R. Branson? You asked if Mary Branson md. a Scott. Mary "Ann" is mine. Isaac N. Lucas md. Ann Branson on 17 Nov. 1867 in Gasconade Co., MO. My aunt Louise told me she was always called "Grandma Ann". I have searched the 1860 Gasconade Co. census several times looking for Mary Ann's siblings. They must have been hiding from the cenus taker? I found "Ann", age 18, working as a servant in Osage Co., MO in 1860; in 1870 I. N. Lucas and family are listed in Osage Co. and by 1880 they are residing in Pulaski Co., MO. According to I. N. Lucas' civil war pension file, they moved to Texas about 1889. In 1900 they are Ellis Co., TX and in 1910 they are in Tarrant Co., TX. I have copies of their death certificates: Mary Ann Lucas died of Senile Pneumonia - Contributary (Secondary) La Grippe, at the Harris Sanitorium in Ft. Worth, TX. Isaac N. Lucas was "kicked by a horse".. Also, I found their tombstones at the Everman Cemetary in Ft. Worth - located out Hwy 35W, about 10 miles from downtown Ft. Worth. Father Mother Isaac N. Lucas Mary A. Lucas May 18, 1842 April 4, 1842 July 13, 1920 December 16, 1913 "She was the Sunshine of our Home" Everman is now a suburb of Ft. Worth, but was a small town near Ft. Worth back then. Since then I have been in contact with Rodger Branson, a descendant of Mary Ann's brother, James Henry, who went by the name of "Henry" and moved to Arkansas. Sharon, I am aware the census data is not always reliable, but I thought you might be interested to know Mary Ann's mother is shown as being born in KY in the 1910 census.
