Surnames: Branson, Woody, Andrew Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kdF.2ACIB/369 Message Board Post: I have been trying to determine which of the many "Eli Bransons" is my g-g-g grandfather, Eli Branson. My g-g-g grandfather Eli was b Oct 18, 1827 and d Aug 18, 1893. He married Mary Ann Woody, b Jul 11, 1836, d Dec 3, 1872. Both are buried in Chatham County in the Cane Creek Meeting cemetary. When Mary Ann died young, Eli took their daughter, Flora, my g-g grandmother, to live with her Uncle Newton and Aunt Susan Woody in Guilford County, where she was raised. Flora's daughter Mary m Rev. James David Andrew, with the Andrew family of Guilford Co. another of my main interests. I've found Capt. Eli of the N.C. Independent Militia, Eli B. Branson, Sr. and Jr. in the 15th N.C. Troops, and have read with interest , of Eli with the 26th N.C., Company G. Have also seen an Eli in S.C. 1st Infantry. Also, an Eli serving in the War of 1812. Excluding the possibility that there is only one Eli Branson, and he's a time traveller, with a penchant for wars, would appreciate any help in identifying my g-g-g grandfather in this tangled web of Bransons; i.e. who were his parents, etc. Thanks for any assistance. Regards, John Rollins
