Spurgeon, 90, a lifelong resident of the Belle community. Burial was in the College Hill Cemetery. Frank passed away on January 2nd at a Jefferson City hospital. Mr. Spurgeon was born July 8, 1901 in Maries County, to the Rev. William J. Spurgeon and the former Nancy Branson. He was married on June 27, 1925, to the former Miss Lydia Branson, who preceded him in death. A retired farmer, Mr. Spurgeon was baptized in 1916 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a Deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church in Belle. He is survived by four sons, Milford Spurgeon of Belle; James Spurgeon of Jefferson City; Clark Spurgeon of Fulton; and Roger Spurgeon of Columbia, Illinois; four sisters, Pearl Davis, Opal Sebers and Anna Branson of San Diego, California; and Mary Skaggs of Texas; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. source: Unterrified Democrat, Wednesday, January 15, 1992
