These are my 5ggp (I descend through their son Liner Willis). I'm still looking for something concrete to say Armistead BRANSON and/or Baylos/Bayliss/Balos BRANSON are 1) brothers and/or 2) sons of Amos & Hannah (and if not, who are their parents?). Armistead has been listed with Hannah. Baylis m. Anne TIMMONS - sister of Liner's wife Sarah "Sally" TIMMONS (both daughters of George TIMMONS & Rose ASHBY). The TIMMONS have been very well documented through Frank Corum's book "Capt. George Timmons Fact & Fiction" 1990. Frank does not list either Baylos or Armistead as children of Amos & Hannah. Armistead is listed in the 1850 Hopkins Co., Census with wife Mary and children. He states was b. KY. abt. 1798 so he's connected to our BRANSONS somehow. Any clues? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Further to this, I have a copy of a pamphlet called "Genealogy of Branson Families in America" Written and Compiled by George Branson of Brazil, IN. and John W. Branson of Wheatcroft, KY. 1936. This was evidently something written for a reunion if I recall. Anyway, it proposes that Baylos was a brother to Joab BRANSON b. VA. abt. 1790 who went to Jackson Twp. Parke Co., IN. in 1831. Joab is thought to be a son of Hezekiah BRANSON who d. near TAzwell, TN. (Claiborne Co.) in 1829. These BRANSONS came from Scotland. Baylos (b. 1801) went to Webster Co., KY. abt 1832 (although we show he m. Anne TIMMONS in 1825 Hopkins Co. So, I guess unless we can connect Hezekiah & Joab BRANSON to Thomas BRANSON & Elizabeth DAY, Baylos must be a different line. The pamphlet also lists Armstead as coming to KY. from VA. about 1830 (which isn't correct because Armstead appears in the 1820 census). Of course, there could be two of them. :-) This information was provided by Gilbert Branson (b. 1893) who was a great-grandson of Armstead (Armstead->George->Samuel->Gilbert). As they all came from VA. how do they connect? -- Yvonne Bowers, BRANSON Listmom/Boardmom Message Board http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=surnames.branson BRANSON Most Wanted http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/branson.html Thomas L.
