AFTON BRANSON TEMPLIN A graveside service for C. Afton Branson Templin, 98, of Alva, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Alva Municipal Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Justice will officiate. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. She was born Jan. 11, 1908, on the family homestead northwest of Burlington to Della Vaught and Charles M. Branson and died June 3, 2006, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Ill. She moved to Alva with her family in August 1917 where she attended Alva Public Schools, graduating in 1924. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alva, and Grace United Methodist Church of Franklin. She attended Northwestern Normal College and received her teaching certificate in 1927. She taught in the Alva school system. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern State College in 1932. She married Frank M. Templin in Lucien. They moved to Goodland, Ill., and Lafayette, Ind., Brownstown, Ind., Madison, Ind., Jefferson, Ind., and Indianapolis. She sang in the choir and played violin and piano. Following retirement, they moved to Alva in 1968 and returned to Franklin in 1971. He died July 6, 1985. Surviving are two sons, Joel B. of Veronia, Ore., and Frank C. of Arlington Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by two sisters [added: Ruby Branson Morefield and Zelma Branson]. Afton, daughter of Della (Vaught) and Charles M. Branson on the family homestead 3 miles northwest of Burlington, Oklahoma on January 11, 1908. She passes away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Illinois on June 3, 2006 at the age of 98 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Templin, her parents, two sisters, Ruby Morefield and Zelma Branson. Afton is survived by her two sons and their wives, Joel B. and Jan of Veronia, Oregon and Frank C. and Eva of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; other relative, and friends. Funeral services will be September 23, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Reverend Larry Justice, director of the Baptist Student Union officiating. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
