I just joined this list a few days ago but have seen no posts. Francis BRANSON is my 2g gm. She was b 16 Apr 1823 VA and d 23 Feb 1898 MO. She was m 12 Jul 1847 to James E EDDENS. Their children were Mary Ann, Thomas, Orlinda, Virginia, Fannie, James, Margaret and Lee. Does this family ring any bells with anyone? Goerge
I hope this helps to clear some of this up... Martha Antrim married 1) John Osmond (2) John Day Branson probably around 1748 John Day Branson's BROTHER William Branson married the step daughter...Elizabeth Osmund/Osmond According to the Branson book I have... Martha was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (zelly) Antrim. John Day Branson should be in the records of Burlington MM, New Jersey... Martha had at least 3 daughters by her Osmund marriage Eunice who married Robert Painter in 1761 at Crooked Run MM, Virginia Elizabeth who married William Branson ..son of Thomas Branson,Sr. Amelia who is listed in the certificate for change of meeting According to what I have read...John Day Branson did have a daughter Elizabeth Branson who did marry a Corder in about 1764..she seems to have come from his first marriage.. anne
We also show on the web site that William BRANSON (s/o Thomas and Elizabeth DAY) m. Elizabeth OSBORN (d/o Martha ANTRIM & John OSBORN). That means John Day BRANSON'S stepdaughter m. his nephew. It appears Martha ANTRIM m. John OSBORN before she m. John Day BRANSON. We show her marriage to John abt 1747 however Elizabeth, d/o Martha & John OSBORN was b. 1737. We show the Elizabeth (d/o Martha & John Day BRANSON) m. ? CORDER. So Martha had two daughters named Elizabeth. Another lister has the Elizabeth who m. William BRANSON an OSMUND, not an OSBORN, but still m. to Martha ANTRIM. Who can sort our our dear Martha ANTRIM? -- Yvonne Bowers, ListMom (Looking for Liner BRANSON) Sonoma, CA. We had conflicting information on the Thomas BRANSON/Elizbeth DAY website regarding the children of Thomas' son John Day BRANSON. John Day BRANSON m1 Isabella ? m2 Martha ANTRIM. Evidently there was a son, Thomas, from each of these marriages. There are also other children: Thomas, Anna and Mary attributed to Isabella ? and Thomas, Martha, Jarred and Elizabeth attributed to Martha ANTRIM. Some info attributes Martha to Isabella ? Can anyone provide information on whether this is correct or how these children should be connected? Thanks! -- Yvonne Bowers, ListMom (Looking for Liner BRANSON) Sonoma, CA. William and Elizabeth had 12 children, all born Hucknall Torkard, Notts. Eng. Although earler records of William had his parents listed as Joseph Branson and Elizabeth Perkins, his personal history gave his father as Joseph Mountney. I am stalled on my research of this family.

Posted on: Branson Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Branson/10123 Surname: Branson ------------------------- In response to your question regarding the name Branson I can only say that it is English for sure. Meaning the son of Bran. Bran was the name of a Celtic god, you can do some research on this name in the library or on the internet. Now the name being Celtic can also mean that it could come from Denmark by an even earlier way, that is prior to the name being English. If you find out anything more on the origans of this name I would be interested. The earliest person that I know of with the last name of Branson was born in 1605.

There's an elderly Branson gentleman here in CA who is searching for his roots. My Bransons lived in Laurel and Clay Co, KY before moving to TX and OK.
