According to HAMMOND BUREAU OF VITAL STATISTICS, he died on September 27,1916 in Hammond, In. I still need to know where he is buried. A logical assumption could be Concordia Cemetery in Hammond, as his wife, Ida M. Gellinger Branson, was known to be a member of the Lutheran faith. William was a watchman for the railroad, and performed his work at the Hohman/ Sibley watchtower that the Hammond Historical Society is trying to preserve.

    3. Hi Phyllis, In regards to your question, not as far as I know- but after 4 generations it's possible. More importantly, it sounds like the wrong part of Va. I'm almost positive they're from S.W. VA. Probably Washington County. If I come across any information, I'd be happy to share. Thank you! My ggrandfather was George Wayman Branson and he was born circa 1858 in Virginia. The census says he was from Westmoreland County, Va. He married a Mattie Tymus around 1878. She was also from that area, according to the census. This may not be your line however, in your search, if you should glean any info on this line I would appreciate your passing it on and I will do likewise. Thank you, Phyllis Gantt

    3. Hello Everyone, I am new to the list and hoping someone is researching the same Branson's. I believe they are all from Washington county, Va. and vicinity. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of information on this family. My husbands grandparents are Joseph Abb Branson-b.4-4-1914, d. 2-26-1967, married Mary Belle Reynolds. Joseph's parents were William Edward Branson and Rosa Lee McGuire. William's parent's were Joseph Abb Branson and Sarah Ellen Wood. Let me know if you have any information- Thanks, Rebekka Branson
