Surnames: BRANSON JONES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kdF.2ACIB/345.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I've also accumulated quite a bit on the Branson's as I am a ggggg grandson of Eli & Keziah through their daughter Mary, who married Peter Jones. Willing to share my branch with others. The Jones moved to Ohio, then to Rush Co. Indiana, and many of them settled in DeWitt Co. Ill where several of the other Branson families ended up. One of the great problems here I've found is the incredible number of Eli's and Levi's! I'm very aware of all the Loyalist history on Eli, and found it quite interesting that there is a software game out there (Revolutionary War game) that Eli Branson is a part of, dressed in his red uniform! which according to some sources he was the only American who did so. I'm still waiting for the update on Catherine and Patrick. I think you're putting it together still so we aren't (yet) showing any children for the couple. Liner is my 4ggf and I've seen his name in records as Liner, Lionel and Siner. I don't recall seeing him referred to as Willis but he did name one of his sons Amos Willis. 2. Hi Yvonne, I checked out you updated Branson and learned something new. I am descended from Catherine Branson who married Patrick Wiley. They had several sons and a daughter or 2. The sons had unusual names and I always wonder why they named them these. They were Wilkerson (my 3rd ggf), Washburn and Willis. I know that Catherine Branson was the daughter of Amos Branson and Hannah Timmons and I see that her brother was Liner "Willis" Branson. Now I know where she got the name Willis. I am wondering if the family called Liner Willis, Willis rather that Liner? From Wilkerson Wiley's Will, I found out that he was called Wilkey or Red which tells me that he had red hair. Interesting facts that one doesn't find too often. I recently found the graves of Wilkerson Wiley, his wife Hannah Eliz. Trusty-Wiley, a son, his wife and child and another adult daughter that died at 20 yrs. old. There is a very old stone that is no longer legible and I believe that it is that of Catherine Branson-Wiley who lived with Wilkerson as an elderly widow. The tiny cemetery is on a lovely treed hill on the old Wilkerson Wiley in Webster County, KY and now on a private farm. Interesting facts that one doesn't find too often. The Branson cemetery in beattyville is the sight of the original homestead that was established by william henry and mary elizabeth. I found out from my great aunt lois (chester daughter and my grandpas sister) that william henry and mary elizabeeth are from virginia and they are both burried in the branson cemetery next to my great grandma elvira. The property that the cemetery is located on is now owned by my grandpa (paul branson - chester's son). My aunt lois also informed that her nephew charlie is coming for dinner on thursday night and his wife has done our family tree and has it pretty much complete, from what I understand. I'm still figuring out who Robert and Richard are. I think I have those names jotted down somewhere. I'll let you know if I do. I was also wondering if you were Loretta or Linda's daughter? I hope this helps. I'll post more about anna and elsie later. If there's anything else you need let me know. ;) ~Katrina

I have one uncle still living and he doesn't even remember other brothers and sisters, except for Chester, who they visted a lot. I have several Bransons that I'm not exactly sure how they fit. My grandfather, born August 30, l889, had moved to Breathitt County in 1910 when he married my grandmother, Ida Belle Frazier, b.September 30, 1891, he lived with them, but there was also a Robert and a Richard Branson that lived with them. They where younger than my grandfather, one being around 18, the other around 20. Not sure but may have been cousins, my uncle doesn't remember who they where. Would you happen to know about Elsie and Anna Branson? I did find that there was a Branson cemetery in Beatyville, but have not been down there yet. I probably should plan a trip there to. I appreciate any information you can share with me. Would the great aunt your going to visit be a Branson to? Judy

First to Ann Kirkland who may have also been known as Anna Carth and later to Emma Parker. I have the parents of Thomas and Nancy as Andrew Branson, born 1802 in Virginia and Elizabeth Greenwall or Greenwald of Virginia, born about 1810.
