The Rev. J>E. Dake conducted the funeral for Mr. Branson, who had been living at a Jefferson City nursing home and who died Oct. 21, 1991 at a hospital in that city. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Branson was born June 27, 1912, at Judge to Robert and Eva Maples Branson. A retired salesman and a member of The Osage Trail Riders, he was married Feb. 19, 1944, to the former Edna Nixon, who preceded him in death on May 7, 1989. He is survived by a brother, Leslie Branson of Linn; a daughter Karen K. Neuner of Linn and three grandchildren.

Branson, 80, of rural Linn, who died Friday in an accident on his farm. County Coroner Vernon M. Morton said Mr. Branson had been cutting wood when he apparently stopped to work on his truck. The truck rolled back on him, pinning him underneath and crushing his chest, Morton said. Buria was in the Linn Public Cemetery. Mr. Branson was born August 6, 1911, in Osage County to Waymon and Mary Yates Branson. He was married to Cecilia K. Samson on Feb. 17, 1934 in Linn. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1991. He was employed in a clay mining and carpentry. Survivors include a son, Wilfored Branson of Bonnots Mill; five daughters, Mary Ann Gove of rural Linn; Doris Drusch of St. Ann; Shirley Bonnot of Loose Creek; Fern Hake of rural Bonnots Mill; Bonnie Wagner of Jefferson City; five brothers, Leslie Branson of Linn; Howard Branson of Loose Creek; Walter Branson of Tebbetts; Oscar Branson of Jefferson City; and Clifford Branson of Fulton; two sisters, Irene Farrington of Jefferson City; and Rose Wilson of Linn; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. source: Unterrified Democrat, Wed., Oct. 9, 1991

He was married on October 20, 1945 at Bland to Marie Genevieve Hicks, who survives. Mr. Branson was a garment cutter who worked 27 years for the Linn Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 8 years. He also is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lyn (Sharon) Shaffer of Jefferson City; two brothers, Leslie O. Mr. Branson was born at Washington on March 14, 1937 to Walter Branson Sr. and wife, nee Evelyn W. Maune of New Haven. Mr. Branson, who was divorced, was a carpenter until illness forced his retirement. He was a member of Assumption Church at New Haven, where a funeral mass was held on Monday, September 2. Burial was in the Assumption Cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Walter Branson III of New Haven; and Anthony Branson of Hermann; two daughters, Sonia Unger and Penny Foster both of New Haven; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Branson Sr. of New Haven; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Maune of New Haven; nine sisters, Betty Branson of Nevada, Missouri; Jane Theissen and Wanda Pottebaum of Washington; Rita Borcherding and Donna Thompson; Faye Thomure and Linda Luecke; Fern Juedemann and Rose Dunakey all of New Haven; four brothers, Fuzzy of Marthsville; Donnie of Berger; Ronnie and Dennis both of New Haven; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a close dear friend, Nadine Branson.

He was married on June 27, 1925, to the former Miss Lydia Branson, who preceded him in death. A retired farmer, Mr. Spurgeon was baptized in 1916 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a Deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church in Belle. Other survivors include five daughters, Maxine Brown and Marlene Dittman of Bland; Pam Keeney and her husband Bob of Cuba; Pat Scego and her husband Dennis of Owensville and Michelle Butler and her husband Dale of Belle; a son, Morris Brown and his wife Karen of Bland; a foster-daughter, Chris Branson and her husband Richard; a brother, Earl Brown of Bland; two sisters, Harriett VanDusen of Paso Robles, California; and Della Mehrhoff of Bland; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Dowell; and a grandson, Shawn Enloe. Mr. Brown recently retired and moved to Belle after operating a dairy farm north of Bland for 31 years. She attended school in Osage County and worked as a Singer instructor in Jefferson City as well in tailoring shops in San Louis Obispo, California and Tuscon, Arizona. She was a 4-H sewing leader and attended the Paris United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include: a daughter, May Lou Buie and husband David of Brunswick; three grandsons; two sisters, Mabel Johnson of Jefferson City; and Lorene Worrell of Sedalia; sisters-in-law, Gene Monroe of Linn; Mary Johnson and Lou Callis both of Paris. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Cora Ellen; and two brothers, Reed and Alvin. Funeral services held Thursday, May 19th at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris with the Rev. He attended Pointer's Creek School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed by the Missouri State Highway Department and Tweedies Shoe Factory. He was an operating engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513 for more than 45 years, retiring in 1981 to continue his lifelong pursuit of farming. He was a past master and 50 year member of the Linn Masonic Lodge No. 326 A.F.& A.M.; past patron of the Order of Eastern Star; member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Linn and a charter member of the Pointer's Creek Cemetery Association. Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Judy Schaefer and husband Dan; and Marchia Monroe all of Jefferson City; two sons, Jerry Monroe and wife Gail of Jefferson City; and Keith Monroe and wife Sharon of Linn; two sisters, Mabel Johnson of Jefferson City and Lorraine Whorrell of Sedalia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Anglee Monroe; a brother, Reed Monroe; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Monroe and Elsie Callis. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18th at the Morton Chapel with Rev. Tony Townley officiating. Interment with military honors was in the RLDS Cemetery in Linn.
