I found this today in the Nottoway County, VA Court House (DB 8, pg. 176) and thought it might be of particular interest. Richard Bratcher Know all men by these presents that I William Bradshaw of the District of Abbeville, in the State of South Carolina do hereby constitute and appoint Archer Robertson of the County of Nottoway in the State of Virginia my true and lawful Attorney for me and in my name to demand, sue for and receive all monies that may be due to me from the representative or representatives of my deceased mother Dicey Bradshaw and grant receipts for the same and I do hereby authorise my said attorney for me & in my name to make use of all lawful means for the recovering of the said monies or any part thereof and I do hereby ratify and sanction all the legal acts of my said attorney in the premises - Given under my hand and seal this fifteenth day of March One thousand eight hundred and twenty eight Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Wm Bradshaw {Seal} In Nottoway County Court Clerk's Office 15th March 1828 This Power of Attorney was this day acknowledged before me in the said office by Wm Bradshaw to be his act and deed and admitted to record.
