    3. >From "Virginia Revolutionary War Pension Applications Volume Nine" Abstracted and compiled by John Frederick Dorman, Washington D.C., 1964 Pages 58 & 59 BRADSHAW, Robert. S.6708. 18 Sept. 1847. Goochland Co., Va. John BRADSHAW, a Revolutionary soldier, in his 85th year, declares his brother Robert BRADSHAW enlisted in 1777 at Goochland Court House with Capt. HAWKINS for three years and marched to the north where he served out his term of enlistment. He acted as a non-commissioned officer in the 14th Virginia Regiment. He returned home and went to the south with the militia and was at GATES' defeat and there acted as adjutant in some regiment. John was then a prisoner at Charleston. When he returned home, not seeing his brother, he inquired for him and was informed he had enlisted again for the war. He did not see him until on the march to Yorktown when he fell in with him in the army of Gen. STEUBEN under Col. POSEY and Col. LOVELY. While at Yorktown he and Robert went within the enemy's lines and cut two horses loose from the timbers of the enemy's cannon and brought them into their camp. The horses were given to him by the officers. Robert acted as orderly sergeant until after discharged after the surrender of CORNWALLIS. They marched to Cumberland Old Court House and were discharged by Col. Christopher FEEBAKER (Christian FEGIBER). Robert BRADSHAW remained several years in Virginia and then moved to North Carolina where he died leaving several sons and daughters. 2 Nov. 1847. Rowan Co., N.C. Richard BARNS of Davidson County where he was born and raised, aged 67, declares Robert BRADSHAW was married soon after he moved to this county from Virginia. He heard him say he was a Revolutionary soldier. He had one child, Betsy, by his first wife, whom he brought from Virginia. She now lives in Tennessee. He had five children by his second wife, Polly, Unity, Austin, William and Robert. Unity and William are dead and the others live in this country {should this be "county"?}. He settled on the east side of Yadkin River about five miles above Long's Ferry and lived there until his death. 2 Nov. 1847. Rowan Co., N.C. Elisha NUNNALLY, aged 69, declares he was born and raised in Virginia and moved to this county in his 21st year. He has heard Robert BRADSHAW say he came from Goochland Co., Va., and talk of his services in the Revolutionary War. He had one child, Betsey, by his first wife. She married Thimothy MERRILL and moved to Tennessee. He had five children by his second wife, Polly, Unity, Austin, William and Robert. Unity and William are dead and the rest live in this part of the country. He lived on the east bank of Yadkin River about five miles above Long's Ferry, now Davidson County. 23 Nov. 1847. Caswell Co., N.C. William KENNON of said county declares he is upwards of 85 years and formerly lived in goochland Co., Va., where he knew Robert BRADSHAW. He saw him frequently in Goochland County while engaged in raising a company of men and was orderly sergeant under Capt. Samuel WOODSON. He subsequently saw him in Rowan Co., N.C., about twenty-five years ago. 29 Jan. 1784. John OVERTON, Jr., Captain, certifies Robert BRADSHAW enlisted 20 Jan. 1777 for three years and served until discharged by Col. Christian FEBIGER 20 Jan. 1780. Robert BRADSHAW assigned his right to land to Math. THOMSON. The will of Robert BRADSHAW was dated 6 Feb. 1832 and proved in Rowan Co., N.C., 20 Feb. 1832. The executors were R. N. CRAIG and Robert BRADSHAW, Jr. 6 Nov. 1856. Rowan Co., N.C. Orstin BRADSHAW of Davidson County in said state, aged 69, declares his father, Robert BRADSHAW enlisted in 1777 at Goochland Court House, Va., with Capt. HAWKINS for three years and marched to the north. He was a non-commissioned officer in the 14th Virginia Regiment. After the expiration of his term he returned home and went south with the militia and was at GATES' defeat as adjutant of a regiment. He enlisted again for the war under Capt. LOVELT and Col. POSEY and was at Yorktown as orderly sergeant. Warrant 2482 for 200 acres of bounty land was issued by Virginia in the right of his service 3 Feb. 1784. Robert BRADSHAW died at his house in Rowan Co., N.C., the third Monday in Feb. 1832. His only surviving child is Orstin BRADSHAW. Robert BRADSHAW, deceased, private in the Virginia Line for two years, was placed on the Fayetteville, N.C., pension roll at $80 per annum under the Act of 1832 from 4 March 1831 to 20 Feb. 1832. Certificate 33400 was issued 12 May 1857. All of the surname capitalizations except for the first one are mine. This is the last of these that I have. I want to thank Virginia Phillips again for the time she spent in the library photo-copying these pages. I'm sure a lot of us have been helped by these. Anne Does anyone know anything of ORSTIN BRADSHAW?
