Clemmer by the way I was named after this Mary Miller Subject: [BRADSHAW-L] John Franklin of Lincoln county Hi, The John Franklin Bradshaw is my great great grandfather. He married Mary Ann Rebecca Miller. John Franklin was born in 1822 and died in 1896. Mary Ann Rebecca was born in 1822 and died in 1900. They are both buried in the Bradshaw Cemetery in Lincoln County, North Carolina. John was in the civil was and became a prison of war on March 25, 1865 near Petersburg, Virginia and was confined at Point Lookout, Maryland on March 28, 1965. He remained a prisoner of was until his release on June 23, 1865. John Franklin was described in his Confederate record as having a fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, and standing 6 feet and 1 inch. He was enlisted in Company E, 11 Regiment North Carolina Infantry, on 1 October 1864, at Camp Holmes near Raleigh, NC by Colonel Malett. He was released on an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America on 23 June 1865. He then returned to his home in Lincoln County. My father has the original copy of John Franklin's civil was pardon. He found it in a trunk that he had used for his toys when he was a child. It along with other papers were passed down to my father. John's daughter Ann never married and invited my Grandfather and his family to come and live with her on the old Bradshaw Homeplace. She had these papers all those years because they belonged to her father. Ann died in 1940. She was the last Bradshaw to be buried in the Bradshaw cemetery until Jan. of this year.
