Mercer Co., Ky. Larner BRADSHAW of said county declares he enlisted on 14 Feb. 1776 at Goochland Court House, Va., for two years with Capt. Samuel WOODSON of the 9th Virginia Regiment commanded by Col. Thomas FLEMING. He was in the battles of Brandywine, and Gates' defeat as a militiaman in 1780, and in several other skirmishes, and was discharged from Robert WOODSON'S company in the 9th regiment (who succeeded his brother Samuel WOODSON in the command of the company) at Valley Forge in Feb. 1778. The regiment was then commanded by Col. George MATHEWS who was taken prisoner at Germantown and who had succeeded Col. FLEMING. 4 Oct. 1819. Mercer Co., Ky. George ROWLAND and Claborne(sic) BRADSHAW of said county declare they know Larner BRADSHAW served as a soldier in the 9th Virginia Regiment. 1 Oct. 1821. Mercer Co., Ky. Larner BRADSHAW of said county, aged 65, makes a similar declaration of service. He was discharged 16 Feb. 1778. He was a farmer and rents land. His sons are all of age and have left him. His wife is aged 63 and he has three daughters, two under age. He owns five head of cattle, a sorrel mare, eighteen hogs, two ploughs and household furniture. Larner BRADSHAW of Mercer Co., Ky., private in the regiment of Col. FLEMING in the Virginia Line for four years, was placed on the Kentucky pension roll at $8 per month under the Act of 1818 from 4 Oct. 1819. Certificate 17542 was issued 19 June 1820. The administrator of Larner BRADSHAW was paid arrears of pension to 25 Nov. 1825 [the date of his death]. The capitalization of last names except for the first one are mine.
