Michael: I will try to answer your comments and clarify what I wrote. See below. -----Original Message----- From: michael laforest <[email protected]> To: Teddie Anne Stueber <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, January 26, 2000 8:05 PM Subject: Re: [BRADSHAW] Bradshaw / Stephensen family You wrote: Your mention of a Jacob Bradshaw >is a new possibility as to the father of Charles Bradshaw. No, no, no. Sorry for the "corn-fusion". Jacob Bradshaw was John's brother. Jacob married Ellen D. BRUER. Ann was sent to live with her grandsparents, but she may have later lived with her Uncle Jacob, after her grandparents died in Illinois. Jacob died in Illinois, too, but Ellen went on to Iowa with the rest of the BRASDSHAW clan. She died in Jackson County, Iowa. I have ordered the cemetery records for the BRADSHAW Cemetery in Jackson County. We should find many of the family there. Family records, which included notes made by Ann (BRADSHAW') VAUGHN in her Bible and the story written by her daughter, Amanda (Vaughn) KEELER, states that Ann's father (John) died when she was about 2 years old. Her mother sent her to live with her paternal grandparents (which would have been Charles & Hannah). One of Ann's granddaughters wrote in her later years that Ann's grandparent's names were "Jacob & Ellen". However, I discovered that they were actually Ann's Uncle & Aunt. The elderly granddaughter just got some of the names mixed up in her writings, but that was the only record my family had until I discovered the facts. Hope that clears up what I wrote regarding Jacob. Sorry again for the mix-up. [According to the life story of Jeremiah BRADSHAW, there was a "cousin" who went with the Bradshaws to Illinois when they left Virginia, but I don't know who that was.] You Wrote: In your >message, you said that after the death of John Bradshaw in 1823, at least >one of the children went to live with his parents or his brother, Jacob. >No one seems to have a Jacob as a brother of John Bradshaw, so maybe Jacob >was his father. Yes, yes, yes! Please do. I will send you what I have found also. It will all be posted at my Web site within the next couple of weeks...with photos I have of my line. If you have anything, I would LOVE to have it. Yes the cemetery photos....yes, Yes, Yes! I am creating Cemetery pages at my site, soon, as well. If you would like to post the info you have and photos there at my Site. I would put you name as the submitter and full credits, plus your URL, if you have a site. Do you know if we have Scandinavian ancestry? The names of HUTCHINSON, etc. are Scandinavian. My ggGrandmother looked VERY Scandinavian...like a Swede! Some of the family thinks she may have had some Cherokee too, but I have not been able to find any data for any American Indian lineage. But, the Scandinavian seems probable. Let me hear from you soon to this regard.
