MANY DISTINGUISHED GUESTS National Rifles Hall Again the Scene of Terpsichorean Revelry, Where the Young Belles and Beaux of Capital Society Chased the Hours with Flying Feet Until Nearly Morning - Mr. Frank Martin Led the Figures, Assisted by Mr. Capers. The second ball of the Cotillion Club took place last evening at the National Rifles' Hall, and was one of the most enjoyable of the season's events. The decorations for this pleasant occasion were artistic and effective; the windows were draped and curtained with blossom color, the lights shaded with pink, and the walls were ornamented with a tracery of green Southern smilax. The music was furnished by the Marine Band, and late in the evening a supper was served. Mrs. Wilson, wife of the Postmaster General; Mrs. Ramsay, Mrs. Swanson, Mrs. Uhl, Mrs. Blanchard, Mrs. Micou, and Miss Wilson were the ladies of the receiving party. Mrs. Wilson wore a handsome gown of brocaded lavender satin; Mrs. Ramsay light blue brocaded satin; Mrs. Swanson a becoming toilet of black striped brocaded silk, the bodice trimmed with yellow flowers and gold passementerie. Miss Wilson's gown was a girlish one, of which brocade, trimmed with touches of blue. Mrs. Blanchard, deep old rose silk, trimmed handsomely with lace and jet. Mrs. Micou, pink satin with effective trimmings. The cotillion danced late in the evening was led by Mr. Martin, assisted by Mr. Capers. The figures were exceedingly pretty and graceful, and the favors quite in keeping. Among the guests were: Mrs. John C. Carlisle, Mrs. Hoke Smith, Mrs. Francis M. Yesterday afternoon at Grace Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Rev. Arthur Chilton Powell, the rector, united in marriage Mr. David Meade Lea, of Richmond, Va., and Georgia Clearer, of Lebanon, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Lea will be at home after February 1, at 1107 East Capitol street, this city. A dance will be given at the Hamilton Saturday evening next from 8:30 to 12 o'clock. Mrs. R. Q. Mills and daughters will receive to-day from 3 until 5:30, assisted by Mrs. Joseph Hutcheson and Miss Hutcheson, Miss Fordyce, of St. Louis, and Miss Shepherd, of Texas. Mrs. Miss has with her for the winter her daughter, Mrs. James D. Wood, of San Diego, Cal. Ex-United States Senator J. R. McPherson, of New Jersey, accompanied by Mrs. McPherson and Miss McPherson, the latter but recently returned from Paris, are at Coronado Beach, in Souther [sic] California. Mrs. and Miss Knox, widow and daughter of the late John Jay Knox, have also been visiting Hotel del Coronado, and while there were frequently entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nordhoff and family, whose picturesque home is on Coronado Beach. George E. Lemon is another guest at this resort. Mrs. Squire, wife of Senator Squire, of Washington, will receive to-day at the Normandie, having with her Mrs. R. H. McKee. Miss Gale has cards out for Tuesday, January 28, from 4 to 7 o'clock, at 1727 Q street. Mrs. Thurston and Mrs. Vilas will not receive their friends to-morrow, but will be at home the following Thursdays at the Arlington. Mrs. W. H. Daw, 2301 H street northwest, will not be at home Friday, January 17. Mrs. Brice will hold her first reception of the season to-day at 4 o'clock. Judge Waller R. Staples, of Richmond, Va., is in the city. Mrs. McAdoo, wife of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, has been confined to her house for the past week from an attack of grippe, with complications. She is now, however, improving. Mrs. Addie Fenton Jefferys, of Richmond, Va., is the guest of her brother, Congressman L. J. Fenton, of Ohio, at 910 I street northwest. Mrs. Stewart, wife of Senator Stewart, will not receive to-day. Gen. and Mrs. Joseph C. Breckinridge gave a dinner party last night at their home on Connecticut avenue. Mrs. Ferd Levi, of Sumter, S. C., is visiting her mother, Mrs. Max Cohen, of 1703 Twenty-first street northwest. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Warren, wives of the Senators from Wyoming, will receive this afternoon, from 3 to 6, at 1725 Q street, the residence of Senator Warren. They will be assisted by Mrs. Bassett. Mrs. Max Cohen and Mrs. Ferd Levi will be at home on Wednesday afternoons and evenings during January and February. Mrs. Robert I. Fleming has cards out for Wednesday, January 22, from 4 to 6 o'clock. Senator and Mrs. Call are residing at 1903 N street. Mrs. Call will receive to-day.
