In that getting organized business I ran across a set of papers on the ancestors of Charles Scruggs (1665-1718), he was married to Mary Fields daughter of Thomas Fields and Mary Burton. According to my records Mary & Charles are the parents of Judith Scruggs wife of William Bradshaw. (Long winded explanation) The paper lists 17 generations of Charles male ancestors back to GODRUD (no date). I don't have the source for this information and the names of the first 5 generations are a typist challenge but if this would be of interest to the group let me know and I will "attempt" to post it.
O.K. found the census reference (one of these days I have to get organized) would appreciate any help in putting this person in the correct spot. 1790 Census, Mecklenburg County, Beaufort District Bradshaw, Eliza 1 female and 1 slave Does anyone know anything about her? She isn't listed as "Widow" Bradshaw, she is not "living next door" to other Bradshaws. Could she possible be "My Elizabeth Thompson Bradshaw"?
> Found the following marriages for Bradshaw in Grundy CO, TN. How are these > related to Green Washington Bradshaw? > A.A. Bradshaw m Judy C. Bradshaw m David Patterson 2 April 1859 I do not have information on the above individual's but would imagine they tie in closely if we only knew. Does someone else have information on these folks? I do have some dates and other information on the wives and children of Green Washington that perhaps would help someone and possibly someone else might add some more hopefully. What I do have as I stated previously is from a cousin Buster Wyatt and much of what I have is typed letters and informational sheets; have not heard from him in years and feel he probably passed away some time ago. I plan to see if I might be able to contact someone in his family. He stated that Green Washington Bradshaw married Emaline McNorten, the first wife, in 1858; she died in '62 and he re-married Mary Rebecca Camper (whose ancestors spelled this Kemper/also have info on this line if someone connects & is interested) 5/24/63 near Tyler, Smith Co., TX. She was born 6/22 1845 in Warrenton, Marshall Co, AL and died 12/28/99; buried in Loco Cemetery, Loco, OK. Green & Emaline's had two daughters: Malinda, 1859, Tyler, Smith Co, TX - 1896, Loco, Indian Territory, OK; buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery (3 mi. n. of Loco, OK). Mary, 1861, Tyler, Smith Co, TX - The 1870 Census of Smith Co. indicates she was 9 yr. old; no other information is available on her. Green & Mary Rebeccas's children: Frances Mahalia, 3/11/1864, Tyler, Smith Co., TX - 1/22/44, Glendale, AZ Sarah Elizabeth, 1866, Troupe, Smith Co. Joseph (my grt gf), 2/6/68, Tyler, Smith Co.- 7/15/1906; buried College Mound Cemetery, Kaufman Co. John, b. 1743, PA, was son of Christopher Columbus Bradshaw, whose father was Oliver Cromwell Bradshaw, whose father was Robert Bradshaw; unfortunately, I have no sources as to where this information comes from. I also have some spouse names, etc. that I can post if someone ties into this line and is interested. I am in hopes someone might tie into this line and have information on my previously posted question regarding connection to Gen. Robert E. Lee and Native American ties; plan to get to library to check Dawes Rolls as Kenneth Bradshaw was good to refer me to but have not been able to do this yet. Hope this is of interest and helps someone else, Sandra
Re: Jan 16 message of above Subject, Samuel and Dorcas Prigmore Bradshaws son Joseph and his wife Polly Logan Caldwell did have a Green Washington Bradshaw, Sr., born 1832 in Pelham Valley, Grundy Co. TN. He and his wife Mary Rebecca Camper Bradshaw are my grt-grt grandparents. In 1880 census of Upshur Co, TX (east TX) they had children: Malinda, 20, Frances M., 16, Sarah E., 14, Joseph, 12, Rebecca H., 10, Martha L., 8, another Green W., 6, Samuel M. 2. They moved to Indian Territory between 1880 & 1890 and he died in Loco, OK 11/16 1921. He and his first wife Emaline McNorten had two daughters. He married Mary Rebecca Camper after her death and had the remainder of his children. Children after the above census info would be Thomas, Robert, John, James & Virginia. This is part of the information graciously shared with me several years ago by J. B. Wyatt, a grandson of Green Washington Bradshaw. Two things I am especially interested in and have thus far had no luck are the statements that 1) we are distantly related to General Robert E. Lee and 2) that we have Indian blood.

Hi Nancy, In another post to the list I sent some info. that I got from the Fredericksburg, Va. genweb site. If yu go to Fredericksburg, Va.'s site and click on the research link you go to a site which has newspaper indices for Va. These are all Fredericksburg newspapers, but they covered a lot more than just that area. The cover page tells you how to get copies of the articles if you want them. I have gotten literally hundreds of articles about my Va. families from the CRRL through this site. I print out the page with the articles that I'm interested in and highlight the ones I want, send it to CRRL along with a check for .10 per copy & enough to cover postage. They send me back copies of the articles that I requested. I have learned a lot of things through these articles. I have also been able to eliminate a lot of people that I thought might belong to my family. If you would like to know anything else, please feel free to ask. Anne
Hi All, One more thing to add to the last post. In this newspaper indice for BRADSHAW/DILLARD there is a listing for a marriage of James J. DILLARD to a D. B. FUGETT. The date of the newspaper article is Nov. 16, 1906. Evidently, the "grief stricken" groom wasn't TOO grief stricken! If anyone is interested in furthering this line I can get a copy of this article. Descendants of Sadie E. Bradshaw Generation No. 1 1. Sadie E.8 Bradshaw (Cumberland George7, Landon Carter6, Zachariah5, Jeremiah4, John3, John2, John1)1 was born January 29, 1882 in Culpeper County, Virginia1, and died April 11, 1904 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Virginia1. She married James J. Dillard1 September 03, 1902 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Virginia1. Notes for Sadie E. Bradshaw: Fredericksburg Daily Star newspaper, dated Monday, April 11, 1904: MRS. JAMES J. DILLARD DEAD. Mrs. Sadie Dillard, wife of Mr. James J. Dillard, died at her home on Princess Anne street, Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the 23rd year of her age. She is survived by her father, Mr. Bradshaw, three sisters and husband. Fredericksburg Daily Star newspaper, dated Monday, May 16, 1904: DEATH OF A GOOD YOUNG WOMAN Died, after a brief sickness, on the 11th day of April, 1904, Mrs. Sadie E. Dillard, wife of James J. Dillard, twenty-two years old. She was the daughter of Cumberland Bradshaw and was born in Culpeper county, Va., January 29th, 1882, and was married in Fredericksburg September 3rd, 1902. Her married life, though brief, was a very happy one. She was a gentle and amiable woman, and though she had not openly identified herself with any church, she professed faith in Christ as her personal Saviour, and, as we believe, enjoys the rest that remains to the people of God. She leaves behind her to mourn her early death, besides many warm friends, her grief stricken husband, an aged father and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Anderson and Mrs. Kate Riley. May God of all grace sustain and comfort them in their bereavement and sanctify their great sorrow to their present and eternal good, so that when they are done with the sorrow and separation of earth they may be reunited in heaven. Sister, thou was mild and lovely, Gentle as the summer breeze, Pleasant as the air of evening, When it floats among the trees. Peaceful be thy silent slumber, Peaceful in the grave so low, Thou no more wilt join our number, Thou no more our songs shall know. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled; Then in heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tear is shed. Found this at the Fredericksburg, Va. web site. This is new information for me. I hope this helps someone else also. I didn't know anything about this family. Anne

Hi Margret, Yes there are some others in the UK researching BRADSHAW, although I must admit there appears to be very few of us ! I understood that my BRADSHAWs came from Lancashire and was also disheartened when I saw just how many of them appeared in the IGI ! However, I have since discovered that my G-Grandfather may have come from Staffordshire, UK . His name was Tom BRADSHAW and was born around 1867, and his parents (as far as I can tell) were Anne ??? and Frederick George BRADSHAW. Tom began his working life as a coach-builder before joining the Royal Horse Artilliary. He married Edith Louisa WILDING at Lewisham, LONDON in the 1890s and died in 1919. Is anyone researching any BRADSHAWs in Staffs ? Does any of this ring any bells with anyone ? Thanks, Neil
For the Y2K problem, for Win95, Win 98 is OK.: 1. Go to: start-settings-control panel-regional settings-date-short date style, and make it: M/d/yyyy This will solve some of your applications problems. 2. Go to: start-find-Files or Folders, and type: winfile.exe If the file is earlier than 3/11/97, you can upgrade File Manager by downloading w95filup.exe from Microsoft's Support Web site. www.support.microsoft.com/support/downloads and follow the links to the Updates and Utilities section for WIN95. Hi Mark, I hope this helps. I have 2 different sources for the last name of Peggy CLEMMONS. The first one is the will of her father, William CLEMMONS, recorded in W.B. 1774-1780 in Amelia Co., Va. The second is notes by Dr. Herbert Clarence Bradshaw in which he mentions the marriage of John to Margaret "Peggy" CLEMMONS (a.k.a. CLEMONS, CLEMENTS). By the way, does anyone have a copy of William CLEMONS will that they could post to the list? If not, I will send for one and get it posted for everyone. Anne

The W.P.A., an agency of the government, was recording and cataloging the historically significant homes, churches and buildings in Stafford Co., Va. in the 1930's. "Pleasant Hill", also known as "Mount Pleasant", was one of those listed. The report is on pg. 274. SUBJECT: Mount Pleasant LOCATION: 9 miles northwest of Falmouth, Va.; thence .1 mile north of Route #612. DATE: About 1811 OWNERS: John H. Bradshaw was the first owner. Charles Bradshaw owned it for a number of years. Mr. C. E. Ramsey, present owner. (John H. Bradshaw could not have built this home as he was born in the same year the house was supposed to be built. It probably was built by Zachariah Bradshaw, his father. A.W. B. M.) DESCRIPTION: This house was probably given the name "Mount Pleasant" because of it's location. The main part of the original house is today used as a kitchen. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: When the northern soldiers came down the old Warrenton Road, which is Route #612 today, they camped on this farm and had to get out in the fields as the mud was so deep in places. The "Mud March", or the road which they came over, is directly in front of this house. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informants: Mrs. Charles Ramsey, Va., Mrs. R. L. Jones
