    1. [BRADSHAW] Bradshaw / Stephensen family
    2. Teddie Anne Stueber
    3. Hello Bradshaw Listers! I am seeking information about my gggGrandmother, Rebecca (Stephenson) Bradshaw. This is what I know: John BRADSHAW b. 1794/1800, Cabell County, Virginia (now WV) d. 19 Sep., 1823, Cabell County, VA. buried: Sep., 1823, (ditto) married: 14 Apr., 1817, Cabell County, VA Father: Charles BRADSHAW Mother: Hannah (Susannah) BATES Wife: Rebecca STEPHENSON b. Abt. 1796, Cabell County, VA. d. DECEASED After John died in 1823, at least one of the children was sent to live with John's parents or his brother Jacob BRADSHAW. Part of the Bradshaw clan removed to Illinois in 1832, and the remainder of Charles' family may have gone there as late as 1840. They appear to have also been living for a time in Ohio, before going on West to Iowa. Ann Bradshaw, daughter of Rebecca & John Bradshaw, stated in her memoirs that her mother remarried and had three sons: Maxwell, Thomas & James. I do not know the name of the man she married, nor do I know where she was living after John Bradshaw died. I do not know the names of Rebecca Stephenson's parents, nor their origins. I have found information in IGI records about a Rebecca Stephenson marrying in Illinois and the time period is about right, but have no way of knowing if this is she. If any of you that are of Charles & Susannah (Bates) Bradshaw have any "bit" of info that might be helpful, I could sure use some help here. I had hoped to find a Will of some kind or property settlement or Probate record, but none so far. Perhaps I overlooked something or didn't look in the right places. Again, seeking information about Rebecca STEPHENSON, who married John BRADSHAW 14 August, 1817, Cabell County, VA. (now WV). Children of John And Rebecca: Nancy Louisa Bradshaw, b. 2 Jun., 1818, Cabell, VA. Skelton Bradshaw, b. 25 Jul, 1820, (Ditto) Ann or Rebecca Ann Bradshaw, b. 12 Aug., 1822, (Ditto) All of their children removed to Iowa by 1840. Ann married Amos Fuller VAUGHN. Ann was a school teacher in Iowa and Missouri. Nancy married Fielden BREEDEN. Nancy was a mid-wife. Skelton never married to our knowledge. Was a minister. Thank you. 3. Hi List, I am trying to do a little research for a friend of mine. At this time, she has very little information to go on except on her father. I have checked the usual online search areas and the Social Security and have come up with nothing. I am searching for any information at all, including dates on a FRANCES BRADISHAW. She was born about 1885/89, using the date of her son's birth as a temporary starting point. It is believed that she was born and raised in Georgia. She married an AUGUSTUS G. VICK, possibly of Moultrie, GEORGIA. Frances BRADISHAW VICK died on Feb. 1960 in Pinebluff, ARKANSAS. My friend has so information at all to go on for AUGUSTUS VICK. Frances and Augustus had at least one child. CARL M. VICK, born Jan 15, 1909 in MOULTRIE, GA and died Aug. 13, 1993 in CRYSTAL RIVER, CITRUS, FL. Any help in getting information of Frances and Augustus and any siblings, parents, dates, etc. would be greatly appreciated. All this information was taken from Carl M. VICK's marriage certificate and birth certificate. It has not rendered very much information so we can write for documents on his parents. Thank-you very much for your help in finding these people. 3. Brad, I am searching for my grandmother Hattie Florance Bradshaw b.? d.1904/1905 M.1996 to Alexander Daugherty. I have very little info on either and I am a newby. I noticed the James Edward b.1846 M.1870 to a Emma Florence Webb. I had heard that name but don't know what the connection is. Hattie Florance and Alex moved to Texas in 1901 and she died here in March/April 1905 when my mother was about 4 years old. She was sent to her grandmother who lived somewhere around Nashville. I have no name for this "Granny". I am wondering if your Emma Webb could be a connection. I appreciate any help that you might share. Please forward to any list I haven't reached yet! -Carol ROCKEFELLER LIBRARY UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library has unveiled a greatly expanded section on the Colonial Williamsburg website (http://www.history.org), offering individuals interested in the Colonial Chesapeake the opportunity to search the library's vast collections. New features include PATRIOT, the Rockefeller Library's online catalog listing the 68,000 titles in the Library, and guides to manuscript, microfilm, selected photograph and other research collections, such as the Shirley Plantation Collection of over 18,000 manuscript items. Previously, individuals had to physically visit the library or be connected to an internal network to access these resources. "We have electronically opened the doors to our major collections by adding finding aids and the Library catalog to the World Wide Web," says Public Services Librarian Juleigh Clark. "Now, when researchers come to the Library, they will have a better idea of what we own, and we can serve them more efficiently." Other features on the website include a virtual exhibit of some of the treasures from the Rockefeller Library's rare book and manuscript collections and special indexes to articles in The Colonial Williamsburg Journal and The Colonial Williamsburg Interpreter. Of special interest is an index to the several hundred research reports written at Colonial Williamsburg over the last sixty years. Early American History Research Reports are distinguished for the significant amount of primary source material in them and for their time and place specificity: eighteenth-century Virginia. The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library is a research library specializing in the history and culture of the colonial Chesapeake. It is located near the Historic Area at 313 First Street and is open to the public. 3. Hello All, Just a thought...has anyone tried searching Charles Ciry County, Virginia records for a birth for John BRADSHAW b. 1690? I was just looking through my papers and realized that it was the parent county for Prince George, Brunswick and Amelia. Since it was the original shire until Pr. Geo. was formed in 1703, I thought maybe his birth might be recorded there. Does anyone know the parish for Charles City Co? Thanks, Anne

    1. [BRADSHAW] Greene Co., MO/Samuel Bradshaw
    2. Hi all, I have been reading the few emails regarding Samuel Bradshaw being in Missouri in 1839 from Kenneth and the one about him listed in the 1840 census. Yes, this Samuel Bradshaw was in Missouri in 1840. This Samuel Bradshaw I have been tracing for a number of years since he is my ggg grandfather. Samuel Bradshaw is in Missouri in Bolware Twp, Gasconade Co., in 1840--census roll 223. My gg grandfather John Gately Bradshaw, Samuel Bradshaw's son, was mar'd in Greene Co. in 1844. The importance of John Gately Bradshaw is that his middle name: Gately is his mothers' maiden name, and has been used by numerous descendants as a middle name, which was extremely common. I have volumes of information regarding Jemima Gately Bradshaw, Samuel's wife and John's mom. In following the Gately/Mercer family which usually moved together, you often see Samuel and Jemima Bradshaw close by one of the other Gately descendants, such as in the 1830 Madison Co., TN Census. Jemima's brother John Gately is listed 2 houses down. Along with the Watts, who are John Gately's wife: Rebecca's family. Samuel and Jemima were mar'd in Caldwell Co., KY on July 20 1819. Jemima's mother: Jemima Mercer Gately gave her permission for the marriage. Sam'l Bradshaw is listed next door to Widow Gately in the 1820 Caldwell Co., KY census. Prior to this the only mention to date I have of this Samuel Bradshaw is in Court Records found in the archives for Caldwell Co. and Livingston Co., KY. He is mentioned in 1810 as part of the team to Survey the Dry Fork Road near Jenkins in Caldwell CO., KY. He is mentioned numerous times between 1810 and 1820. Shortly thereafter they moved to Madison Co., TN and then prior to 1840 to Missouri. In the 1850 census he is in Greene Co, one of the sons: Jesse Franklin is next door with wife Lucinda and one of Samuel and Jemima's daughters: Emily (who later mar'd Jesse Collier). Samuel Bradshaw died Jan 27 1859 in Webster Co., Missouri. Jasper Miller did the probate. Please do not confuse this Samuel Bradshaw with the other Samuel Bradshaw in another part of Missouri in 1830. The other Samuel Bradshaw had about 9 children listed in the 1830 census. My ggg grandfather has 5 children: 2 boys under 10, 2 girls under 5, and 1 girl 5-10. To date my cousins and I still have not been able to establish Samuel's parents or siblings. Any help in regards to this would be appreciated. Thank you for all the wonderful information you are all sharing on the Bradshaw mailing list! It is always helpful and has helped me to find cousins! Maybe not even related! I used to puzzle over William Bradshaw having land in Arkansas way earlier than I thought he should have been there. Turns out there were two unrelated William Bradshaws in White County Arkansas at the same time. By the way, it seems like all the Bradshaws on this list are from Virginia. Do we have any from my branch? Mine go back to David BRADSHAW (1792 TN-1848 Weakley Co. TN); m. Theresa CARSON, possibly a daughter of Henry CARSON (B. 1754 Mecklenburg Co. NC?). These Bradshaws may have been from Mecklenburg County also. David is said to have served in the War of 1812 under Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. I have not gotten around to verifying this yet. The William mentioned above is William Henry BRADSHAW (1818 TN-1891? White Co.? AR). He married (1)Mary WRIGHT 1839, and (2) Elizabeth ADAMS bet 1845/1857 who m1 ? PRESCOTT. William's brothers also came with him from Tennessee. My information is from "My Story" by De Emmett Bradshaw. There are 2 Bradshaw names listed in the 1810 and 1820 Nicholas county Census. A William and a David and either one could have been the father.
