I was poking around on the internet when I found your inquiry. My mother is a Lott, her mother is Hazel Lott... formerly Hazel Cannon - daughter of Fanny Cannon - daughter of Thomas J. and Mittie Bradley - James' Brother. If you have any information that you could pass along to me - that would be great! My cousins are searching also for family history. Here are the "letters"... seems someone wanted to write a book at one time... they were very precise... this is interesting... enjoy! Retyped as read... JAMES CLIFTON BRADLEY James Clifton Bradley was born in Virginia in 1815 and lived in Richmond, where he had five brothers and three sisters. He mirgrated down to Vienna in Dooley County, Georgia, and married Kizanna Clemmons and had eight children, which were born there. About 1855 he and his brother-in-law Jesse Clemmons and his wife Becky, and their families relocated to Madison County,Florida. James Clifton Bradley was a Deputy Sheriff while in Dooly County, Georgia. After about one year's stay in Madison County, Florida, they moved to what is now Suwanee settled there. James Clifton lived at about three miles south of Brandford in Township 7, Range 14, Section 35. To James and Kizanna Bradley were born the following: 1. George W. died young unmarried 2. James William m. Duck 3. Samantha "Sallie" m. Eaf Young 4. Tizanna "Lou" m. Peterson then Wm. Hall 5. Policy "Plyson" m. John Hall 6. Amanda "Wanda" m. Ridgeway then Hill 7. Holly m. Berman 8. Thomas J. m. Catherine Missouri Hunt, dau. Jack During the Civil War deserters would run away and come down the Suwanee River and James Clifton Bradley would give them something to eat. The soldiers would come looking for them and they would get onto him for feeding them and he would tell them that if a man came to his door hungry he could not send him away hungry and didn't think that they would either. One year Kizanna Bradley would get everything together and to to Lake City, Florida to do her shopping. She would do her year's shopping which included going to the drug store and getting a year's supply of medicine. They hired a teacher one time to teach the children. His name was Cook, and he stayed in a cabin next to the main house. When he would walk down the road, he could call the chickens or even the pigs and they would follow him. THOMAS J. BRADLEY Thomas J. Bradley, youngest son of James Clifton and Kizanna Clemmons Bradley, was born in Dooly County, Georgia in 1856 on July 30. He moved with his parents to Madison County, Florida for one year and then to Suwanne County, Florida and remained there most of the rest of his life. He was married to Catherine Missouri Hunt, Daughter of Jack Hunt, about 1880. "Kittie" as she was called was born in Florida in 1856. Tom, as he was called by everyone, lived just south of Branford, Florida, approximately at Township 7, Range 14, Section 35. He had about 200 acres of land that he reportedly bought from the state. He was a member of the Methodist Church and at one time he asked the church to take his name from the Church membership because he chewed tobacco and did not want to give it up. At one time Branford was called Rolands Bluff and the man who owned it once tried to sell him the land there for 25=A2 an acre and Tom did not want it. Tom Bradley was a great lover of hunting and fishing, and devoted much of his time to it. He was supposed to be about half Irish, and he had a quick Irish temper. One morning Tom got up before daylight, and was going to cross the river to hunt, and as he was on the way to the river he heard a noise behind him, and thinking that it was his old dog he just told him to go back home, and did not look around to see what it was. This was all before daylight and when he reached the river he got into the boat and sat down in the front end of the boat and waited for daylight to paddle across the river. When he picked up the paddle and brought it around to shove the boat off, a big wildcat jumped from the other seat onto the bank and turned around and growled at him. Tom was out hunting one day and was calling turkeys when he saw something out in front of him which kept crossing back and forth and coming closer. Then as it got closer he saw that it was a wildcat, he shot at him, and he ran off in the bushes... a couple of days later his brother came by the place near where he had shot at the wildcat and saw some buzzards and stopped to see what it was, and it was the wildcat, which was the only one that Tom ever killed. To Tom and Kittie were born the following children: 1. J.H. m. Sarah Ellen Cannon, daughter John Geo.W. b. Dec. 9, 1887; b. Nov. 29, 1884; m. Oct. 10, 1901 2.Cliford m. Bob Sumner b.
