Thomas Bradley, Last Will And Testament, 1849 In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Bradley of Clarke County, Alabama, do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following. First- I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping and believing in a remission of my sins by the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ. And my body I commit to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my friends. Second- I will that my just debts as shall be by me owing at my death together with my funeral expenses, and all charges touching the proving of, or otherwise concerning this my will, shall in the first place out of my personal Estate and effects be fully paid and satisfied, and from and after payment thereof, and subject thereunto then my will is that my negroes towit Dinah, Jack and George together with my horse, hogs, cattle, sheep, wagon, Household and kitchen furniture, farming utensils and all my real Estate belonging to me and all other property not included here, shall be sold on a credit of six months by my executor hereinafter mentioned, and that the next proceeds thereof be equally divided between my loving wife Jane B. and my children, John, Robert, Mary Ann, James, Richard, Elizabeth, Edmund, Josephine, = Guncilas; Charles H, William Henry, Andrew S, Margaret T, Joel G, Rebecca, Caladonia. And I do hereby appoint my trusty friendAbel H. Dubose Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or Testaments by me heretofor made. In witness this 26 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine, Thomas Bradley SEAL Signed sealed published and declared as and for the last will and testament of the above named Thomas Bradley in presence of us RB Baker SEAL D Blackwell SEAL Richard Singleton SEAL The State of Alabama Clarke County, appeared in open court, David Blackwell and Richard Singleton, two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of Thomas Bradley deceased who after being duly sworn depose and say that they saw Thomas Bradley sign the foregoing as and for his last will and Testament, that the said Thomas Bradley was at the time of signing the same of sound and disposing mind and memory so far as they know or believe and that they saw Richard B Baker the other subscribing witness sign the same and that they all signed in the presence of each other and in the presence of the Testator.
