I've posted a little info a while back on my grandfather, Edison Filor BRADLEY. I haven't had any luck learning about my grandfather other than 1920 Cleveland, Ohio U.S. census data. I have no pictures of my grandfather and my father doesn't know much about him. He was born in Ohio about 1891. He married my grandmother Flora Adella NEWBERRY in Rochester in 1911. They had two sons, Charles Edward BRADLEY (my father, born Rochester 1912, residing in Florida) and Alfred Filor BRADLEY of Rochester (1913-1988). Flora and Edison (Edward) were separated in 1921. Flora died in 1933 and Edison outlived her, but probably died some time in the late 1930s (we think). Clues? The middle name FILOR. Variations on the spelling of this name are FILER and FYLER. Filors trace back to before the revolution. I am wondering whether my grandfather's mother's maiden name was FILOR. Does anyone with BRADLEY genealogy resources know of any BRADLEY married to a FILOR -- and living in or near Rochester NY in the late 19th century? Another clue: The name EDISON. My grandfather seems to have switched his name back and forth from Edison to Edward. I have found an Edson BRADLEY in Roxbury, Litchfield county, Connecticut in the 1840 census. He has two small children, one boy and one girl, and he and his wife are in their 20s. Does anyone on this list link to this Connecticut Edson BRADLEY or have a resource which identifies him? I am wondering whether this is my grandfather Edison Filor Bradley's great grandfather. Perhaps Edison is a family name, or perhaps it was the last name of another ancestor. Supposedly Edison Bradley was drafted for WWI and sent to Fort Dix for training, but after a flu epidemic (1918?) was sent home and never served overseas. I am unable to locate his draft registration information. He was an electrician and he also worked for the phone company in Rochester. Everything I know about Edison BRADLEY is on this web page: http://www.athenet.net/~djbyrne/family/bradley.html Thanks much! Candice Bradley Appleton, WI
