    1. [BRADLEY-L] West Yorkshire Bradleys
    2. Hello Back again but a little later than I had expected. Being a retiree is such a busy occupation these days!! My Yorkshire interests are all (so far) from the north-west corner of the former (ie pre-1974) West Riding of Yorkshire(WRY) - an area referred to as thre Craven district - which is close to Lancashire and the former Westmorland. . My father was William Henry BRADLEY, born 22 Jan 1897 @ Austwick. There was an elder brother John Thomas (no dates). . Their father was John BRADLEY, b 7 Jan 1851 @ Horton-in-Ribblesdale. His second wife, Elizabeth Earnshaw (b 14 June 1866 @ Wigglesworth, parish of Long Preston) was my grandmother. They were married on 23 Nov 1892 at Bentham (which was also my place of birth). Elizabeth died 4 Dec 1899 @ Austwick and John d 25 Sept 1935 @ Bentham (retired farmer). . John's parents were - Anthony BRADLEY, b 13 Feb 1826 @ Long Preston and Margaret LUND b (July 1831?) @ Dent. They married on 13 October 1850 @ Clapham. Their children - John (see above) b 1851, William b 1853, Thomas b 10 Mar 1854, another William b 4 Apr 1856, Ellen b 18Oct 1861 - no other details on John's siblings. But most born at Wardsgarth (afarm), Lawkland. Margaret d 14 Nov 1873 @ Wardsgarth and Anthony d @ Mearbeck(a farm) in Long Preston parish on 16 Jan 1900. . Anthony was a son of a William BRADLEY (b 1790s?) @ Settle and Ellen Turner (b 1790s?) @ Wigglesworth. Theymarried @ Long Preston on 26 June 1815. Their children : Elizabeth bap 12Oct 1815, James bap2 June 1817, Margaret bap 17Oct 1819, John bap 28 Apr 1822, William bap4 Apr 1824, Thmas @ Anthony bap 31 Dec 1826, Joseph @ Mary bap 21 Feb 1830, Jane bap 3 Mar 1833. All born @ Wigglesworth. William a farm worker, later described as farmer - he and Ellen were both listed in the 1871 Census but notin the 1881 Census. That's all I have so far - now deciding whether to go farther back in time or to find out more about the names I have. 'Twould be great if any of these names "clicked" with anyone out there- but as I have never yet come across anyone researching the same family line as me, Iam not holding my breath. Good luck to everyne on the list with your research. Cheers Derek Bradley Canberra, Australia. _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
