In the 1789 Census of Wilkes County Lawrence bradley is listed in Thomas Fargusons District of Wilkes County. There was 1 male 16 and upwards 1 male 16 and under 4 females The district that he was living in was a few miles from Burke County. When the boundaries were changed this part of Wilkes became Burke County. However to add to my confusion there is a John Bradley that lived very close to where Lawrence lived but was in the Burke County .John Bradly (notice spelling, my family spells Bradley, and Bradly either way) I always look for both spelling. The person living next door was William Bailey whos son married a Bradley girl. They later moved to White County where they are living close to Jackson Bradley in 1860. Burke County list John Bradley as being a chain barrier. In the marriage records for Burke County are: Bradley, James Reele, Mary Nov 11, 1817 I do not know who he belongs to unless it is the son of this John. There was 1 male 1 and upward 1 male 16 and under 3 females. Back to Wilkes County we find John Bradley and Ann Wisdom and most of the people that intermarried into this family. John Bradley is listed as being in district No 11 Kings Creek area. This area is to become Caldwell County and it is the County that I find most of my Bradleys but when dividing the counties Kings Creek and Burke County are just a road apart. It may be of interest that Joshua Story lives in the 3rd district Joshua Story's son or Brother will soon marry Clarie Bradley the daughter of John Bradley and living one house down is Moses Tomkins. I name I have seen on the line. John Bradley 1 male 16 and up 3 male 16 and under 6 females If you go by the Census and combining the two this is what you could come with.We can guess that John is the one male that over 16. Now we need three little boy under sixteen in 1790.What makes this harder to do is we do not have a will for John. We have a date of a will posted about 1829 Wilkes County but the will has been lost and the only thing left is the settlement of the estate and the date the will was posted. Inventory of the estate is as followers. Clary Story, Levi Bradley son of James, Sary Searbrough, Calvin Bradley son of William Bradley, William Bradley, Berryman Story brother-in law to Clary Story,Benjamin Schell, Nathan Bailey, Balus West, Elijah Triplett, John Witherspoon,Eli Story, William Carlton, Jessey scarbough,William Dula, Benjamin Beach John Scarbrough, and George Ferguson. Administer Thomas Isbell, and John Father of James who married Hannah Pogue. You can get a copy of the above by writing the Library in Wilkes county. It is in the Jan. 1830 Court records. To tell you the truth I do not know if this is the John who married Rachel Wisdom, or if this is John the son of Rachel & John because this John had a wife name Lucinda that must have died before he did. Also this John would have been at least 100 I believe he is the is the third son that was named in the 1790 Census. My second reason is John Bradley , Rachels Husband lived very close to Ann Wisdom and would have been the person that would have handled her will instead of Laurence. he is not even mentioned in Anns will the others are. I agree with Windel that he died before 1800. So many of those wills were burned in the White house. There is little doubt that James married Hannah Progue. James married Hannah Progue on 1 May 1806 Wilkes County. He was born about 1776.They left Wilkes County and moved to Green County Tennessee. 1. Levi Bradley married Jane Barlow 29 April Wilkes County. 2. Nancy Bradley married Eliphet Barlow 3. James P. married Malinda Nichols 4. Hannah Mielissa m William p. Jeffers 5. Malinda Married Ambrose Knight 6. Lucinda m. John Elliott 7. Cynthia m James Brotherson James Bradley died in Green County Tennessee 1850-60 I hope this helps and fits some of the missing pieces...but if I made mistakes please let me know becouse a lot of my John is a puzzle.
