    1. [BRADLEY-ROOTS-L] Elijah Bradley 1744?, CT? - ca. 1810, Cayuga, NY

    3. OK, here is my Bradley ancestry, as much as I can make of it! Beulah Bradley, born ca. 1766, married Henry Bush, ca. 1788 in Kinderhook, Columbia, NY. They moved to Aurelius, Cayuga, NY prior to the 1800 census. Elijah Bradley was living next to them in Aurelius (>45 years old). In 1790, Elijah Bradley was living in Canaan, Columbia, NY, fairly close to Henry Bush. Therefore, I am assuming Beulah's father was Elijah. He disappears before the 1810 census, so he must have been fairly old in 1800. The IGI says Elijah was born 15 SEP 1744 in Tolland, Tolland, CT. I have no information on the name of the wife of Elijah. The IGI also has Elijah's father as being George Bradley, b. Tolland, Tolland, 1718, no info on wife. This George's father is also listed as George, b. ca. 1694, somewhere in CT?, was supposedly in Windsor CT in 1713, and was one of the early settlers of Tolland. He married Hannah Braman on 28 MAY 1717 in Tolland, as reported in the "Ancestors & Descendants of Morris A. Bradley". This George's parents could be George Bradley and Mary Ward, as a George Bradley, who died in 1694, is listed as marrying a Mary Ward in Newport, (RI?) in "New England Marriages prior to 1700". This is pretty skimpy, and real light on spousal names. Anyone who can help me fill in this ancestry will be greatly appreciated. The George b. 1694 is supposed to be connected to the New Haven, CT Bradleys, about whom reams have been written, but you couldn't prove it by me! As a matter of fact, I am more inclined, from the naming patterns of Henry Bush and Beulah Bradley's children, to believe that Elijah's father's name was William Bradley. There was a William Bradley living not too far away from Elijah in 1790 in Columbia County, NY. I first thought that Henry Bush and Beulah Bradley were both of English descent. Now I have discovered that Henry was either Dutch or German Palatine ( originally Bosch). Were there Dutch/German Bradley's that went to Columbia County, NY in the 1700's? -- Bill Semeyn kiltbill@accn.org “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” -Mahatma Gandhi
