My research indicates that Bradley is an anglicized version of the Irish clan name O'BRALLAGHAN. Does this match what others know? I find Bradleys in both Ireland and England. My supposition has been that Ireland is the original homeland of the Bradleys. Is this accurate? BTW, the LDS's Ancestral File is now online at http://familysearch.org/. Almost as good as the DOS version at their Family History Centers.

I am looking for any information on the familty of John R Bradley Born May 18, 1821 in Virginia, died August 13, 1902 in Callaway County, Missouri. He Married Frances Ann Powell who was born March 7, 1823 in Franklin County Virginia, died April 16. 1878 A son James R Bradley Born Aug 26, 1849 in VA, died April 29, 1927 in Tacoma, Washington. A son Silas H. Bradley was born in VA in 1854, and a daughter born in VA March 7, 1857 and died Sept. 21,1878 in Callaway County, Missouri. John R and Frances A Bradley moved to Missouri in 1858.
Hi Happy Easter to all Transatlantic Bradleys and Bradley-Listers, especially those who sent me welcoming messages when I first queried whether UK Bradleys were relevant to the list. I have a copy of all those messages and am gradually working through them with personal "thank yous". My slowness in replying can be put down, in part, to increasing years, unfamiliarity with internets and mail lists, but also to the fact that "a retiree's life IS a happy (but Very busy) one" [with apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan or whoever]. But I will eventually complete the task. There were no responses to my listing, but I susequently saw someone with Bradleys in Derbyshire - just round the corner in Australia or the USA but in a different galaxy in UK terms. I remember my father once telling me that when he was young, about the first decade of this century, folk from neighbouring villages were referred to as "foreigners". Enough of the 'good old days'. Daniel Bradley (DOB around 1830) married Mary Bradley formerly Whaling Both from Ireland. They moved to England In the County OF North Cumberland. They had at least one son John Bradley (DOB 1856) who married susan Bradley of Ireland. They lived in Heworth and Hebbuen area's. John and Susan had 16 children of which 12 made it to older ages.
